Harness mounting Q's

I am mounting my 6 points in preparation for this coming season. I have 2 questions I was hoping you could help out with:

1. What is the best orientation of the eye bolts for the lap belts? It looks to me like vertical (straight up and down) seems to be the best but I'm no sure if it matters safety wise.
2. How did you mount the sub belts? The frame / frame rails are in the way and the spacing of the plates underneath are really far apart. Does this matter or is only the angle in relation to the groin the important piece?

Thanks for the help.

All you need to know is here.

Thanks for that, answered my second question and part of my first question. I see how the eye bolts should be, I'll have to adjust that.

As for the sub belt mounts the instructions say no greater than 4 inches apart, outside the frame rails is much greater than that. Any more suggestions on how to mount them? I'm wondering if I should weld on a bar to the seat brackets and use that to wrap the belts on to.

You can drill holes through the floor board, and use large diameter washers on both sides. Like ~2" diameter washers.

Can't with the frame rails, they making the mounting points too far apart.

Ah I see, sorry misunderstood what you were saying. I'm not sure then. Maybe look at other installation guides and see if 4" spread is the norm, I'm sure you could get away with a little wider, but I won't formally recommend it only because it's safety critical.

Shitty picture, but here's how I solved the frame rail issue on mine. 1"x1"x1/8" steel angle with 4 holes drilled in it. 2 holes in the spots on the floorpan that were most ideal, and 2 holes centered on the seat with 4" spacing. Schroth B64 bolt-in brackets with high-grade 3/8" low-head screws and flanged locknuts from mcmaster.

Thanks jpreston, I was thinking of doing the same but wasn't sure if that's the "best".

Do you think it would be an issue if I used the bolts from the frame rail reinforcements? It's a very strong mounting point but I'm not sure what grade bolts were used.
