Race-related interior pics for ideas. Let's keep it to Miatas only so we can actually benefit.
I'll start with mine. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1374438726 AIM MXL pista display (RPM, ground speed, water temp, oil pressure, oil temp, lap time), XD-16 for my main LC-1, custom LED panel linked through CAN bus to the ECU and the buttons/dials on the steering wheel. The LED panel has the following indicators: LT - left turn RT - right turn BAT CEL OILP BRK ABS IMS (immobilizer) FOG LTS (lights) HDL (headlights) LC (launch) FS (flatshift) ST (switch tables) VM (valet mode) DL (datalog on) TC (traction control) ALS (autolock system, not antilag, lol) LINK (on if the CAN Bus system fails) PWR (power) The buttons on the steering control the above, plus two dials for fuel trim (-15% to +15%) and ignition trim (-9* to +3*), and few more buttons (datalog mark, rain light on/off, rear flood light on/off) I would love some more free space on the dash for a few more controls though (cams, fire supression, secondary datalogger systems). |

Props. EDIT: My only complaint is that some of your abbreviations are confusing... but considering you designed it, I bet you know what they mean LOL. Love the spark/fuel trim stuff. |

How important is the steel bar behind the dash? Apart from holding up the steering column.

Mine is pretty boring, Attachment 185270 Wideband is in the left vent, 0-35psi boost gauge on steering column, oil pressure is in center vent, water temp, transmission temp, vacuum are in the radio plate. And I have another spiraled wire going to the steering wheel. The one in the picture now is because I got a ticket for no horn...so that is my horn. The other was added for a PTT button for the radios. But still, looks like a sack of dog shit compared to Reverants lol |

Looks F1/Racecar quality. Very nice. The trims adjustment on the wheel is just crazy. |

Nothing too fancy. Fuel gauge moved to left eyeball with relocated OEM oil pressure (functional 1990), speedhut boost gauge top center and linearized water temp gauge in stock location. The tombstone has an AFR and Oil Temp plus a starter button and mount for the iphone that does lap timing with Harry's Laptimer. Switches do different things but the three main ones are engine (injectors/coils, etc.), ECU and the wideband. The ECU is on its own switch so I can tinker with it without having the whole car powered up and the wideband is solo because sometimes it gets confused and likes to be rebooted which I can now do without shutting down the whole car. The other switches are fluff but functional.
I also mounted the OEM fan switch in the tombstone. The car still has a heater core set to defrost which can be handy in the rain and also serves as emergency cooling capacity. I looked at dicing up the harness and putting in a single switch to run the fan but decided the ounces in weight I would save wasn't worth the complexity. I have the flashers and headlight pop-up combo switch mounted too for no particular reason since the headlights aren't there but I do find it helpful to hit the flashers if I'm having a mechanical issue and limping around the rest of the lap. The toggles are nonsense...NOS, side windows, windshield washer fluid, door locks. I did that just to see if anyone would notice. The real toggles are set up with the master on/off at the left side of the steering wheel, right next to a momentary start button toggle. All toggles are military-grade high amp units...overkill. There other toggles are signals, headlights off/low/high, interior light, and seat heaters. I'm going to set up an Android-based interface for the MSPNP that will sit over the tunnel and will be shaded by the dash. |
