Introducing: Keen on Racing

So, I've decided to move car racing towards a more business oriented approach. That means that I plan on building out the car (reliability) and my skills and use that to entertain our customers, suppliers, friends, participate in charity - meanwhile broadly advertising our company.
I run a managed services/hosting company from Enschede, The Netherlands. We are highly service oriented and highly automated. That means our core is only 4 ppl, half of which is tech. Yet we serve near 700 customers, amongst them BP/Castrol. Current plans include the option to run in MaX5, the local Spec Miata equivalent (90-93 1.6). I'm posting this in the 1337 section as none of this is really public yet, we will post on our company blog shortly. Looking for feedback, input, pitfalls, experiences, etc from others around here. Kick-off today, the shop: Specs: - 500m from our office - 14ft x 46ft (644 sq.ft.) |

sounds great! i might hit you up for some hosting in the future by the way!
|
cool :) hiring interns yet? ;)
|
So, quick results are in: cold leakdown - 5-8% in #2, #3 and #4. Around 20% in #1. Going to run the engine for a while as it's been sitting for long. Then do another hot test and see if we want to do head only or short block too.

Thanks, this thread is now complete! :giggle:
Good luck on your endeavour. That garage is pretty damn awesome. Is that like a rental space? Never seen anything like that around my area. I would like something about that size to work on cars. |
We're running several projects in 2010 and are using Facebook to keep you all up to date:

644 square feet seems small. Is real estate really high there? |
Real estate is very high in the Netherlands, that's a nice sized shop for a new operation to begin in.

Thanks all for joining!

First race of the MaX5 season: 1st place!
So, first race of the season for Keenonracing in the Total Mazda MaX5 Cup. This is basically the Dutch version of the British MaX5 Cup which is the SpecMiata equivalent, minus the hard top.
Me, just before the race: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._2211421_n.jpg Car was build over the winter months and we did some testing in Feb through April. First race was yesterday at Circuit Park Zandvoort. Very busy free training with over 50 cars (Mada, Volvo and Alfa Romeo's). We set the 2nd best time in qualifying less than 0.4s behind Dutch GT4 driver Danny van Dongen (Corvette C6). Due to a timing error the Hoogwerf team slipped into first place, so Danny started from P2 and I started from P3. Danny killed his clutch (see video below) and I managed to stay in P2, unable to really catch-up. Second race, I started from P2 and Hoogwerf (with different driver) from P1. Behind me on P3 was last year's overall winner Rudy from IL Motorsport. Hoogwerf had a bad start and I was the frist to enter the first corner. Rudy (in P2) seemed to keep up for a while but I finished 1st with a 8s time gap. Very happy with this first competition event ever and a good start of the season! I will post some on board footage from our car in the next few days. Onboard with Danny van Dongen: More: http://www.facebook.com/Keenonracing Danny van Dongen in his Dutch GT4 Corvette: http://www.dannyvandongenevents.nl/c...tte_4.4.10.jpg |
Nice... Glad to see that your first event turned out well for ya man.
|

Long time since last update. Season almost over. Six consecutive wins. Championship is in our hands. My team manager will be driving the closing race.
Last stint, I decided to start behind the pack: http://vimeo.com/14765488 |
