If you are going to be doing autox and have 275's (which with a v8 you should have at least) you will want PS. Even though you don't do it competitively, you will want it. Plus getting rid of caster is a negative effect IMO, since it's dynamic camber.

This. While the steering effort isnt bad with non-powered racks its still easier to save the car with power. And with power you dont get the steering kickback from surface irregularities or curbing. The SSM car was going to take someone's finger off eventually if I left the manual rack in it from how violently it would kickback through the wheel if you caught one of the deep pavement cracks just wrong. Not really a concern on children sized tires though.
