Sad as I am to see William's car retired from Unlimited class in MC, it's very cool what you guys are doing with it now. Congratulations!

For those not "in the know": Are the ppl above L-R? What else is in the class? and what mods? How long was the enduro? What track?

I've always loved night racing (less so when it's raining). But to me, driving with lights really eliminates a lot of the visual distractions you get during daylight.

We never developed his car to its full potential as an MCU. Pretty close on aero but nowhere near on power. Still, we set a few lap records with the restrictor in place and a 100k mile OEM long block. The NB1 chassis is pretty hammered, not entirely straight these days. Can't get it cross weighted without some pretty funky ride heights variances. We'll run the car as is until the end of the year then swap the hardware over to a new NB2 chassis with ABS for 2012.

Well done :)
Comment on spring rate swap? Too much for no aero?

Braineack 07-03-2011 01:44 PM

Congrats!!!

Yup

Bond 07-03-2011 01:50 PM

Why do you want ABS for the track?

Also, congrats.

Endurance racing makes you tired and makes you do stupid things. One flat-spotted/corded tire and you're down two minutes or more.

hustler 07-03-2011 01:55 PM

I need a janked-out 99 to run PTA in...but it has to be janky and destroyed or I'll like it too much to race. That's the problem with Green Glory, it's too nice to race.

I see what you're saying, but at the same time, it is another system on the car that may fail and may also require a pitstop to fix. And if you are flat spotting tires in an enduro, revaluate your driving habits, you can't run 10/10s and expect it to last 3+ hours.

I know you raced the little Ford Fairy cars and all, and I have zero w2w experience, but have you never been so tired in the car that you did bone-head shit? I recently ran about 30-40 minutes in 103*f heat and realized that I started checking-out and getting lazy, so I parked the car for a while. I bet at 5:00am with the sun coming up, after a couple 2-hour stints, slammed full of coffee, it's highly likely that something dumb happens. Lots of pros pull dumb moves at leMans and they're better than most of us.
