keyless push button

Ok so on my adventure for weight saving's I want to get rid of everything on the steering column that is not needed, I am left with the ignition lock cylinder, and well I am looking to get rid of that and put in a push button start that works WITHOUT the use of the key, and all of the write ups I can find need the key to work. Does any one have a wiring diagram or writeup on how to put one in?

Thank you

I don't have a wiring diagram for you, but all you would need to do is connect the 12V constant in the ignition harness to the acc, on, and ignition wires. Between the acc and on and 12v, I would use a toggle switch and a momentary push button for the ignition. Make sure you use the proper gauge for those ignition wires.

These work well and have seen them in more than a few cars.

Pretty easy to figure it out from a wiring diagram.

I didn't even use a wiring diagram, just the switch and a multi meter. Figure out what connects what in what position, throw in some relays, switches, and you're golden.

If any of this is over your head, don't try it.

Attached is a wiring diagram, this will get you through all your wiring needs. If this doesn't make sense you shouldn't be doing and you should take an electronics class THEN decide to do it.

I put alot of time into my wiring, i would never do it again for free.

I just used a push button starter and a toggle switch and no longer need the key...took a couple hours to do, no big deal. Revlimiter.net or something like that has a pretty good write up on the S2000 starter button, fits nicely in the cigarette lighter location with just a little boring out. all the parts totaled some 40 or 50 bucks. All you need to no is pull the six pin connector out of the column and put a switch between the two battery leads (i think the middle two) and the ACC/SW1/SW2 the last one is the starter. Use heavy gauge wire, theres a lot of current there.

I know this is an old thread but thanks for the diagram, this should be put in the useful saved thread section.
