Default Lap Times Thread

So an idea. What are some of your thoughts of having a Sticky with members lap times at various tracks? You would have to supply a screen shot of your lap timer and or photo of in car timer, what car it was in, what track and wet or dry.

That way we can start comparing to each other rather than always referring to spec times.

Slow people over here:

Fast (turbo) people can post here

Seriously though, its a good idea. Especially since turbo miatas don't compare very well with spec miatas.

Lol, yeah I mean FI cars. I want to be able to for instance... compare myself to say BBundy or Curly next time I go to Portland or ORP. And if I ever got to California, compare to some local people. I'm sure others wouldn't mind having a reference to go to as well, no?

I agree, its a good idea. I can still compare myself to spec miatas, so a laptime thread isn't as important for me. Plus, I am also east coast and there seems to be more people on the 3rd coast/west coast that track their cars.

This format of this thread has been working great: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=183791

I don't think there is any need to post a picture of a transponder. What would that really prove anyway? If someone says their peppy is bigger than it is, someone else can call BS and they will eventually be humiliated by the truth. The only suggestion would be to say how you timed your fast lap if you weren't using a transponder (i.e. Stopwatch from video).

I use my video editor to do my timing. I just get the two frames that match the closest to the lap marker. I am accurate with-in a frame, so 30hz=+/-.033 seconds.

What's missing from all the lap time threads is an explicit line for "excuses" and "reasons I should be slow but am still fast". Drivers usually include these anyway, but it'd be nice to call them out. ;-)

Cheers,

Dean
