Just published an article on our site to bring some additional awareness to the need for more thorough and frequent inspections of car being used for competition type driving. Also the concept of purposely replacing certain parts from the car before they fail.
It's more of an m.net type of thing but I though some of the less experienced weekend warriors here might also benefit.

Not intended as a comprehensive maintenance guide. Just a heads up for "other stuff that can break" that you should keep an eye on and Time Out before they fail. Like most of the articles we publish, they are works in progress. Feel free to comment.

Does everyone else who has a track car keep an hour log? I track an hour log for brake comonents (pads, rotors, calipers, lines), suspension (hubs, shocks, tires), and fluids (brake, engine, trans, diff). Super helpful for planning out preventative maintenance. I want to add more to engine components but for now I just carry an standard list of spares).

When I first started tracking my car (a daily-driven street car) I told my wife that t wouldn't affect the life of the car. I am an optimistic person, and this was false. I've since come to understand the importance of regular inspections and preventative maintenance, dramatically reinforced about a dozen years later when my track-dedicated Miata sheared apart a rear hub in turn 17 at Sebring. Maintain laser-sharp focus on the severe wear items like tires, brake pads, and rotors, but as stated in the article, even stout components like sub-frames can wear out when subject to enough vibration and stress.

How incredibly timely. One thing I'm adding to my list for the NA/NB is lower balljoints. I'll be doing this at 300 hours (about 3 years for me). Unfortunately, I had to learn the hard way. I inspected these the night before and they were tight with good boots. Shaft sheared from the ball. Bauer ELBJs bought and installed late January 2016.
