We use those kind of composite panels for the whole passenger deck floor on commercial planes. Every time I see them, I covet the material. I can't imagine it was cheap...

Blackbird Oct 27, 2016 09:34 PM

It certainly was not.

Blackbird Oct 27, 2016 09:47 PM

BTW, the lift is supporting the car in the pic.
We built 3 removable lowered jacking points per side to be able to jack the car up from the one in the middle that you can see in the pic, and then set it on jack stands.
The jacking points are flush with the flat bottom other than the small bends on the front and back of each plate to positively locate jack stands.

aidandj Oct 27, 2016 11:42 PM

No air jacks?

:giggle:

Blackbird Oct 27, 2016 11:51 PM

And carry all that weight around?
Noob!
Unless you're going for strictly endurance racing or have a weight cap for a series that you're WELL under, external air jacks are the way to go.

aidandj Oct 27, 2016 11:58 PM

But from a pure baller awesomeness factor built in air jacks are the shit.

There are better ways to spend a few thousands of dollars on a race car.

And there is absolutely no profit margin in them being made in the US.

I suspect in a few more years that will be more of the Boeing supply chain that ends up in Malaysia.

In for pics of finished underside.

Blackbird Oct 28, 2016 11:47 AM

Soon :)

Meanwhile, Peter Hess (IG @petehess ) caught Morpheus in his lense going into T9 @ MRLS, in what has to be BY FAR the coolest pic I have of on track with this car http://forum.miata.net/vb/images/smilies/smile.gif
New desktop background FTW!
