Oh the flatness -
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...7d8ff88642.jpg Still need to finish the front section and add NACA ducts in the middle section, but we're getting close. |

looks great.
I would imagine you need some more mounting points towards the rocker? |
Working on them as we speak :)

DRS pieces are coming in!
Our next big hurdle is the CNC work which is starting tomorrow morning, hopefully it can all be done in time. I have a feeling that our chances of having it on the car for SLB are slightly higher now that some things have already arrived, but it's still a long way. Lots of Carbon work is planned for the coming weekend  |

Titanium pieces for the DRS setup cut, still need additional processing but we're getting there. Excitement level at eleventy millions! |
Maybe I missed it in the previous five pages, but is the end game here to create a kit for the rest of us?

We sell everything that you see on our cars.
The cost of the active wing is definitely not for the faint of heart so I don't expect to sell many, we're currently building two of them though, one for Morpheus and one for a customer car. Keep in mind that the GT-1000 swan neck mounted airfoil alone is in the high $2xxx and it is not the most expensive piece in the puzzle. At the same time though, this setup has been stress analysed, CFD tested, uses exotic materials to reduce weight and aero drag etc.. It's as high end of a setup as they come, and it's built in such way that it is modular and can be implemented on many different cars :) Our CFD results showed a massive reduction in drag BTW, just a tick under 60% reduction! |
Sorry; I was referring to the flat bottom. :hs:
|
Can definitely build it for customers that drive their car into our shop, this will be a hard item to ship and install so not sure if this will materialize into a kit..

Why Titanium? With the cost I could make carbon parts for the same price with 1/3 the weight. Or Aluminium is lighter than Ti
|
Strength for the application, Ti is the correct material for the job.

CF is stronger in some load directions, but not in all directions.
If you have the ability to analize and call the layout schedule, I have no doubt that you'll be able to produce a stronger piece (not entirely positive about it being lighter though, but I'm not a composite specialist)... The swan neck mounted wing upright sees a lot of strain and fastener edge distances are limited by the manufacturer of the wing, and given those production limitations Titanium makes a ton of sense, especially in the specific Ti alloy that was used. The Titanium that I used is 6AL-4V alloy which is roughly 3 times stronger than 6061-T6 Aluminum, and unlike laminated CF parts is a known quantity in terms of strength. FWIW, our weight savings measures that were designed throughout the entire uprights and DRS put our final weight pretty close to the weight of the standard swan neck uprights APR Performance sells for their wings. I consider that a fantastic achievement, given the fact that we added 2 high speed actuators and all the DRS mechanism. |
I need to stop looking at this thread.
If I keep it up, Moti is going to get a surprise delivery of one of our cars with a blank check inside. |
I'll make sure to shoot you a direct link to every update :D

Fresh off the mold, still needs to be trimmed, cleaned, finished etc...

Don't worry, I have no plans of stopping any time soon :)

Front fender lower filler panels in the molds, hopefully they'll turn out alright, the molds were made quick and not much time spent on finishing.
I also made them on the car so they are kinda flimsy so vacuum bagging was out of the question. We'll see, I have a feeling they're going to be alright. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...b265975bae.jpg |
