I can't wait to see how you stack up once you build up that engine.

I remember reading Savington calling some of the rotrex'ed cars deceptively fast because you could just get on them earlier. Looks like it translates.

Me neither.
I have all kinds of horrible ideas in the last few days..

BMWidmer Nov 16, 2016 04:49 PM

I thought you were doing a honda powerplant?

Blackbird Nov 16, 2016 05:15 PM

The plan for Creampuff is a turbo K24.
Morpheus was never meant to have more than a supermiata S2 level engine, which on E85 and a high power tune would make what, 160-ish?
But nothing is set in concrete, I have a few ideas that I've been playing with, so it might be that Morpheus will be getting a different engine..

Many more pics posted tonight, courtesy of MCV Imagery
Still need to weed though the full gallery, but this one is pretty cool, right on time for wheels up Wednesday!

My bad, its easy to confuse the two projects. Will you implement the same aero on creampuff that is on Morpheus?

Blackbird Nov 17, 2016 10:40 AM

Yeah, I can see how they are easily confused :)
To answer your question, some pieces will be carried over (like the DRS wing), but the plan also involves going even further down the rabbit hole with venturi tunnels etc..

My best effort @ Super Lap Battle, uploaded in 1080HD.
Excuse the rusty driving, been on the sidelines for 2 years and I'm not yet up to speed.. driving as smooth as a lumberjack http://clubroadster.net/vb_forum/ima.../icon_wink.gif
Car has a 1:58.xx in it, will report as times come down, enjoy!

My rotrex car was that way. SUPER predictable/smooth power. Obviously a turbo car could make more power, but Rotrex is very easy to drive.

I wouldnt say a SC car is easier to drive.

As a matter of fact, I would say turbo cars are easier.

When you have a traction event in a supercharged car, you all of a sudden have way more boost than you were originally anticipating.

Ask me how I know ;)

Disagree. SC car much easier to drive than turbo. Having boost not solely related to rpm but also related to time and load adds a 3D map that the driver has to adjust too. In a straight line it's easy with a turbo. Pull trigger, wait, go fast. The issue is when adjusting line on corner entry and mid corner when there is a bit of lag and no TPS based boost control. It requires a different, and slightly less precise driving style because the driver can never, be 100% in control of torque unless it is at WOT and the time factor has stabilized (driver waited for boost). The SC, OTOH, is just a N/A motor with some help. Easy peasy.

All this makes twin-charging sound very appealing ;)

A lot of ECU's can give you this feature.

I understand its not what you were getting at (an analog driver controlled TPS based boost control), but it gets you closer than nothing

d k Nov 17, 2016 06:12 PM

To each their own I guess...

There are certainly benefits on both sides. SC is definitely more responsive, but I feel that a turbo is more forgiving.

Having driven both, in my limited experience, I feel that a turbo is easier to drive overall.

Leaving the turbo vs. SC topic behind, MCV Imagery kicks butt!

I just can't get over how well the 3D mapping of the upper body work turned out.
It took a lot of time to map in 3 dimensions every dot of space in the span between the hood and the trunk so that we'll be able to smooth out the fairings.
It worked out so well that the body is as flat as a pancake, and I'm not even entirely done with it.
