NA Pop-up Headlight Delete. Going too far?

Hey guys,

Recently I've gotten the idea to delete my NA pop-up headlight assembly and replace it with this: Singular Motorsports NA Headlight Brackets | Singular Motorsports Basically I am worried that with my Rotrex install + Engine oil cooler I'll be adding too much weight to the already extremely front-end heavy car. In addition, it seems like you can eliminate the gap between the hood and headlight covers created by 1990's assembly processes in addition to cleaning up the engine bay a bit more. Looks like the weight savings with both the headlights, the motors and wiring would be about 15-20 pounds off the front with a high CG.

So my question is this:

1. I currently don't have a trailer, is deleting my pop-up headlights for an estimated ~15-20 pound weight savings worth the extra planning I will need to take?
2. For those that have done it, do you regret it, or does the extra planning just become another thing you have to do etc.?

Car info:

91 Chassis
MS3X
Stock motor 1.8L VVT
FBO + C30-84 + E85
Xidas 800/500 w/ RB 1.125 FSB
15x9 245/40/15 RS4
Front Splitter + Air dam + APR GTC 200 w/ 2 inch risers w/ Singular End plates

Car is really an HPDE and TT only car at this point, but I do drive it to work on nice days sometimes. Most track events are within ~1.5 hours driving time.

If you don't plan to drive at night or in the rain I don't see the problem.

If you are worried, I would add a headlight bulb to the turn signals by drilling and securing the base with clear silicone. If you are concerned about practicality or being able to flash your lights at someone it will do that for you. They won't put any light on the road surface but will light up without adding but a few grams of weight. We install corner strobes in the lenses of our construction work trucks in this fashion and have been doing it for years.

I've had 3 NA's, all 100% street cars, I've deleted popups on all of them and added headlights to the turn signals. I've just grabbed a bulb and harness from a car at the junk yard, bought clear turn signals on ebay, and cut/hot glued them to fit. Then I move the blinkers to the corner lights. Lighting isn't great by any means, but it's been sufficient for me to get by at night. I've never had an issue with law enforcement over them, even when I've been pulled over for other things.

Thanks for the advice guys. If I do it, clearing the turn signals seems like a good option. That's the thing, when I did my steering wheel install I took a lot of time to hook up the horn in case I need it. How many times have I used it since? Maybe once. Maybe never.

Anyways, I emailed Gridlife TT and they will allow it in my class. So consider those gone haha

Didn't regret it at all. Do yourself a favor and find the thread where the hella projectors are used. Much better output than the 6 led light bars. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...087a13e665.jpg
