hello bros,

does anyone run these?

if you do run them, do you see a benefit? if you don't run them, why not?

They're on a shelf in my workshop... I am expecting alot of fresh air from them. Driver side only.

pusha Jun 3, 2012 12:31 PM

I was kicking around the idea of installing the pass side one too and just routing it toward my face using heater hose

Use some brake duct hose and aim it at the footwell. I have the advance auto flip out ducts that I can lock up when closed with a cotter pin. I dont want the NACA duct on my streetcar since I don't like people pissing in my car through it.

I have the Blackhawk flap kind. Love 'em. Lots of fresh air, must-do mod for an AC-less street car.

Oscar - Is that something you really have to watch out for up there?

I'd rather not take the chance of having a piss-soaked seat. If I can think of it when sober, I'm pretty sure that drunk degenerates can think of it too. I have no closed space for the car to sit, so I must have the ability for it to be locked. I already know I can knock out the vent part and put my arm inside to unlock the car (locked my car with keys inside my last trackday).

I have these:

kotomile Jun 3, 2012 02:20 PM

Yep, that's the kind I have. No piss problems yet... :)

link to where to where I can find those^

Oscar Jun 3, 2012 02:53 PM

I got mine through advance-autosports.com (well, savington got them for me).

I have NACA ducts in both mind, they're wonderful. I don't visit places with drunk people pissing in public. Unfortunately, I don't have any good pictures of the install, but you can notice the air flow at just about any speed. They're covered with spray paint caps usually.

pusha Jun 3, 2012 04:48 PM

I kind of like the ones kotomile posted because they're cheaper and stuff.

I need to figure out something to do for windows to seal up my window-less car.

GeneSplicer Jun 3, 2012 10:56 PM

I *HAD* them but pulled them out... just like you posted, from Weekend, got a pair for cheap if you want (driver's 'circle' cracked but taped). Reason I pulled them is safety... getting ready to run a halo seat doesn't give you much wiggle room should you have to squeeze out the window in an emergency. Reason #2 is it picks up road trash and slings it into your face/eyes if your helmet visor is up. But I gots a helmet blower for my multi-vented BR1 so what do I care... $20+s/h pics if u want.

If you got them, use the regular glass windows with alum tabs/hooks to hold the windows in place to make your seal, that's what I do anyway and it works well... or at least thats what I did since I don't have the NACA ducts in any more. Maybe we can work something out for both windows and NACA ducts... do I dare trust him guys? Ahh.. he's into guns, he's cool with me...

I have a NACA one from advanced on my passanger side. Moves a lot of air (equal with rolling the window down) and I haven't had any problem with debris or piss.

I have a silicone shipping tube cap that slides over it to stop the flow of air when it's not needed.

skeeler Jun 4, 2012 11:18 AM

I'm running the snap-out-flap kind on both sides. I'm really impressed with how well they direct air at my chest or face. I got them from MiataRoadster.com, I believe.

leatherface24 Jun 4, 2012 11:22 AM

I like them but installing them is the only reason Ive never bothered with them.

I will be making my own and just CNCing slits in them. just perpendicular up and down, but here's a pic to show what i'm talking about:

Yeah, you can just open your window for that, it won't draw any air in. Open windows are near useless at speed, like they're still closed. The NACA ducts we're referring to draw air in. The others mention stick out. Either way much more effective than slits.

motormechanic Jun 5, 2012 12:57 AM

I'm not sure if my logic is right, but wouldn't the high pressure air outside want to move towards the area of lower pressure inside the car?
