Yeah, don't take the mounting plate off the bottom of the wing - in my experience, even though it's held on with a bunch of small allen bolts, it is also epoxied. There is a hole in the mounts for the tethers to pass through, you just take the endplates off and you'll see the plate that the tethers attach to. You unscrew that plate and then pull the tether out.

Yes easy to remove the tethers as described.

BTW, we've hit our minimum for the COT mounts. We're definitely doing a production run. If you're interested, sign up!

I've been poking around. It appears the less expensive "show only" wings don't have the mounts as well attached - no epoxy and fewer rivets. There are reports of them being updated so they're suitable for high speed use.

Since you hit the minimum, any chance to start production early?

Not really, they'll all be cut at the same time. Sorry

If it's not ready for MRLS, I promise to spin out in front of every FM car in A group!

Are you making excuses for spinning two months before the event? That's planning ahead.

Planning ahead is ordering wing hardware 75 days out. Early excuses? That's just being resourceful.

We're not going to place the order until the group buy is done for fairly obvious reasons. I expect it'll take 2-4 weeks after that to get our hands on the parts. So MRLS shouldn't be a big deal, but you're not going to get them the first week in March.

I foresee quite a few COT wings terrorizing MRLS...

The wing arrived today. I would have posted earlier buy I've just been caressing it for the last few hours. I got both sets of endplates. Both plates had a small CF Gurney flap above the wing on the left side so I harvested the airfoil shaped part and cut it down to match the flap on the flat plate so now both my flat endplates have matching Gurney flaps. With the main airfoil, that makes flaps from 3 directions.

Is anyone near production on different endplates? It would be nice to have them taller but now that I see how they are attached (built out ~1" from the main wing), I don't know if it would be better to have bigger endplates on an effectively narrower wing. Has anyone thought of laying a new piece of CF over the existing one to maintain the width? It would add bulk but just ounces including the fasteners.

Gotta run - I have to go touch my wing inappropriately some more...

If/when I make new endplates it will have provisions for attaching a second small wing element. That will more than make up for the loss of a couple of inches of span. I don't know that I will be making enough front downforce to be able to actually use a second element, though.

Well I've joined in the group buy for the mounts, guess I ought to find a wing now! Just the one on Ebay at $599 so I've pinged Circle Track Warehouse an email... anywhere else I can try?

Edit - Circle Track Warehouse don't have any but will try to get me one, so hopefully sorted before too long!

Russell.

Well that didn't take long, found a wing on Ebay and they accepted my offer so one will be on the way to me shortly.

For the record, Bryan at Circle Track Warehouse didn't have any in, but can / will get them and they are usually $250 - $450.

Russell.

Is there an expected build and ship date for the mounts?

Keith, would you mind identifying what size rivnuts & fasteners you are using? I'd rather have fasteners on hand and be waiting on the mounts to arrive, than to figure out what size I should order after the mounts get here.

Thanks!

Yes, the wing will need to come off the car every winter. I enjoy having it in my bedroom and touching it as I walk by.

Build date will start after the group buy is over - we need to know quantities. The group buy is over on March 1st. Thus the build date will be in early March. I'll see if I can get them fast-tracked so we can ship them ASAP, but it depends on piggybacking on a larger order at the fab shop.

Fastener size attaching the mount to the chassis is 6mm, and there are 5 per side. You can use fewer if you want, of course. Mount to wing is the same as the hole size in the wing, I think they're 8mm. You'll need a flangeless nut and a socket head bolt for the attachment at the back, as it's reeeealy close to the wing itself.
