NOLA Motorsports Park Race Report

Background: First NASA Texas region event at NOLA, track just opened this year in the Spring.

So I practiced yesterday, only ran two sessions due to some car issues (15 minute fix, 2 hours to find the part in the 'Big Easy') and ran four Time Trial sessions today.

Quick comments:
- What a cool track!
- It is not to difficult to get the general feel for the track (not getting lost) but squeezing out the last bits of speed is tricky. There are some tricky sections that will catch you out if you are trying to go fast and not paying attention.
- The facilities are very nice (compared to TWS, MSR-C, MSR-H, H2R, Hallett).
- The paddock area is HUGE.
- The front straight is loooong. Even with relatively slow corners (compared to TWS) at the beginning and end of the straight I hit 138 MPH before getting on the brakes. That is the same speed I hit at TWS.
- The track is flat. No elevation change, no big camber anywhere, but no worries, it is still good.
- The last corner complex coming onto the front straight is weird (several commented on this). The 'correct' line through and out of there is counterintuitive.
- The lead Spec Miatas in this afternoon's race were running in the 2:01.3 range or so. My fastest lap was a 1:54.3 (second in TTS, third overall). I think the fastest overall lap for today was a 1:49.X (Highly modified TTU Vette with A6s, Penskes, BIG brakes, etc).
- The tiger teeth (rumble strips) are brutal. They are in three layers (fron edge of the track to the grass). The first layer is big but liveable, the second layer will really get your attention, and the third layer is HUGE, like holy crap maybe I need to exit the track and make sure I did not just break something.

I would be there if I didn't have to work, had the MS2 a few weeks earlier, had been to the dyno, had an alignment, and had good rubber, lol.
