Default North Carolina cage fabrication?

I am looking to do a custom weld in rollbar + door bars (I am 6'3" and none of the off the shelf bars fit me well). Can anyone recommend a cage fabricator within a few hours drive of Durham NC? I talked to competition cages in hillsboro and they seemed more interested in selling me one of their spec miata cages. Performance chassis in Cary is currently without a fabricator. There are several roll cage fabricators in Charlotte, does anyone have a positive experience with one?

You know, Hard Dog is in NC. Wonder if they would do something custom like this?

I called them. They won't even do custom tubing wall thicknesses.

Hyper Formance and Ben Lewallen are both on facebook. They do work for a number of local SCCA guys between Greenville and Charlotte. Check on offroad4x4, too. There are a ton of cage fabricators out your way that deal mostly with rock crawlers, but could bend up a main hoop and door bars no problem.

Does Tom Long (Long Road Racing) do cages? They're over off Gresham Lake north of 540. Piedmont Motorsports is over there too. Not sure if they do cages.

Long Road Racing "doesn't work on pedestrian cars".

Basically if you're not keeping your GT3 Cup car with them, nope. Also asmasm has dealt with the "fabricators" @ LRR.

This is going to be your man.

Competition Cages - Quality Custom Race Cages and Roll Bars

He's just up the road and does impeccable work.

No personal expereince but I've known guys who love his work and have tested it.

I wouldn't recommend Hard Dog. They're a production only shop. If they dont' have a jig for it they don't seem interested.

CC has already been covered. He is not interested in building custom cages. You can take his cage, or you can go somewhere else.

Alec, I know someone in Virginia if you are ok with the drive. One of his customers comes out to VIR, so you can see his work before you pay.

There's a gentleman we've known for some years who might be interested (I really don't know.) He focuses on Spec E30 cages now, but he's done Miata stuff in the past. He's in Greenville, SC. Since you're having some issues finding a place, at least it's a name.

Barber Race Works.

I wanted to bump this- I am willing to drive to Atlanta or Ohio if necessary.

sharkythesharkdogg: Do you have any information for that guy other than the blank website? I am going the weld in route and want to see someone's work before make an irreversible addition to the car.

I've Professionally worked with E-Speed (owners name is estus). they are a dealer of ours and are extremely professional. they have been building mazdas since the 1990's. Without hesitation i could recommend them. i've seen their cages and they do top notch work. Quoted price on a spec Maita cage was in the low 2k range (included painting). they where willing to do changes. give them a call. (704) 933-4446

they had this on display at MSX this year.

Honestly, if you are willing to go to Ohio, use the guy that Luke has. His work was top notch. And he did it for Schimmel money, so it should help ease the pain of that drive.

If you are willing to go to North GA: Tyler Raatz, Road Race Gear. He did mine as shown below. I'll PM you his contact info. He does great work and is reasonable.

I'm not sure who this is, but if you're going to Ohio check with Mark Mcmahan @ RollCageGuy.com -- Custom Roll Cages
