We have a SOLO DL that we have been using as a demo. We couldn't be happier with the results. She Software is easy to use and understand. The GPS works reliably on an autocross track. The smarty cam is also cool. the video is well made and features a Speed, RPM, throttle %, Brake pressure %, lap and track overlay.

Thoughts, Questions? discuss.

18psi Jun 6, 2014 02:07 PM

Is this an advertisement or are you legitimately attempting to discuss different systems?

You're gonna ruffle some feathers if you plaster OGRACING into a bunch of sections under the disguise of discussion threads.

Just a heads up. If that's not your intention, then my bad.

OGRacing Jun 6, 2014 02:12 PM

We truly want the heartbeat of miataturbo.net. if there is another system you like, let us know. if you have questions about the ones we offer, we will answer them. We are also letting you know this is available, and it can work in an autocross. The tight confines of a autocross track is a place where most GPS lap timers fall short.

So just advertising then, ok.

PM an admin to create you a vendor section in here:
Official Miata Turbo Vendors - Miata Turbo Forum - Turbo Kitten is watching you test compression.

And advertise your heart out.

Let's discuss displays.

My AiM MXL Pista is JUNK.

I've connected oil temp and pressure sensors to it, but there's no smoothing/filtering you can do to these channels. So good luck reading anything, especially on the oil pressure channel.

And as of late, after 20-25 minutes of operation, the analog channels start to go crazy and it starts losing the CAN bus connection to the MS3.

This thread is open to discussion.

Do you think there is a problem with the unit, or the connection?

Reverant Jun 6, 2014 02:42 PM

The unit. The fact that it starts to happen after 20 minutes or so and not straight away, give that away. Its not affected by bumps or anything. The car could be idling in traffic and it just starts to happen. Reset the power and it will stop for a couple of minutes and then start again.

Want to see if we can go threw a repair process? if you do send me an email Johnny@ogracing.com

The Racepak systems we use and sell have filtering built in. They also routinely work for longer than 25 minutes - the IQ3s in all the 25 Hour cars will routinely run 8+ hours without being shut off once.

Reverant Jun 6, 2014 04:17 PM

Well, OG Racing have been kind enough to help me through AiM to troubleshoot this even though I'm not a customer, so thank you for that guys.

Sav, I hope this is something bad on my end, although I purchased this unit second hand and I'm out of warranty, so I just hope for the best.

How's the Racepacks Road Racing software? We haven't tested with them yet. They have a very strong following in the drag racing market, but don't see too many in the east coast club racing circuit (NASA, SCCA).

we ran the AIM system at daytona. the downward g forces were so odd our driver was lifting at 117mph. We reviewed the data, picked up the pace to 135mph, and dropped 10 sec off the lap.

shlammed Jun 9, 2014 01:32 PM

The most quiet race car I have heard.

Looks quick too.

schmoo Jun 9, 2014 04:07 PM

I have an AiM MXL with a SmartyCAM HD GP and love it.

Also, AiM is amongst the best companies I've ever dealt with... their customer support and service are top notch. Nothing but good things to say about them and their products.

hingstonwm Jun 9, 2014 04:13 PM

I currently run a video v-box, made in the UK. The data is not user friendly at all, I feel like I need to be a rocket scientist to navigate and extract useful information out of the system. Also the "add on bits", so you can see tach, brake, and throttle input are ridiculously priced. At this time, I am starting to look at other systems, with a goal of having a new system in the car for the SCCA Runoffs at Laguna Secca in early October. I currently use the Rumble Strip system for predictive lap timing, and love it.

Check out Race Technology Dash2 Pro. It has several preconfigured filters for inputs in a drop down menu, or you can set up custom filters.

Software can be downloaded from here:

I much prefer the software over AIM's, but haven't touched the hardware yet. I have a unit on the way and am very excited to try it out. The fully mack daddy loaded unit is ~$1400 retail (including GPS, accelerometer, CAN comms).

Reverant Jun 10, 2014 02:02 AM

Oh, you know me. If I can't find a display that functions as it should, I'll make my own.

ThePass Jun 10, 2014 04:17 AM

Love how the Racepak system looks on paper and a big plus to see it given the thumbs up from the 949 and TSE crews after much use, the only thing I don't like about the IQ3 is that blue lcd display looks difficult to read - too much info packed into the space and the numbers/letters all look the same at a quick glance to me...
The G2X looked easier to read IMO but that's the old model that is no longer available afaik :(
But hey, I still use the stock gauge cluster so my opinion isn't worth much ;)
