ThePass Feb 14, 2016 12:10 AM

yessssss

Several ratio options. I chose these
2.769
2.057
1.579
1.260
1.00
0.889

Depending on lead time, it may arrive a while before the OGK is ready for it. In which case it'll spend a few weeks in Taxi with the 2.0L Whammy. Gonna be nuts in the OGK though.

That transmission is over 9000 bucks with the current exchange rate and including freight, for those enjoying this vicariously through the Internet. I'm sure many grins will be had.

$9000 minus 2 six speed trannys & miata roadster shifter = $6,500 to me. Gonna follow E's lead on this one ASAP!

This is cool.
The only downside is that if you ever need to deal with their UK customer service, may god help you even if you're an atheist.

Quaife is indeed, a miserable company to deal with. Let's hope I don't need to.

Ordered a load cell shift knob. Looks like a pared down billet aluminum knob with a wire hanging down. I'll use that to trigger the ignition cut for up/down shifting. Better than uses a gear position sensor and allows faster shifts. I hat metal shift knobs so we'll make a two piece delrin cover for it.

Gonna use MS3 ECU for that? I wondered about auto blipping and flat shifting with that ECU.

Your problem sounds cheap comparing to the one we're having with one of our customer cars here.

Building a vintage Honda N600 with a sports bike engine swap.
Quaife makes a really nice cush drive geared reverse box with an integrated diff using their ATB LSD.
Told them we're doing R1 engine, said no prob, unit is universal.
$6K later the unit shows up and guess what - the part that it's universal turns out to not work at all.
Looking at a few possible solutions, we resort into an unnecessarily long chain of emails that ends with them saying that the unit was designed around the 998cc Honda CBR1000RR engine.
Customer says fine, fuck it, let's just buy the right engine and sell the R1 unit.
More thousands of doll hairs later, we pop the CBR unit on the table this morning and did it fit?
Nope.
We're now over $10K in and no drivetrain in the car to show.

I'm just about ready to tear someone a new one..:vash:
Never seen a company as big having such poor customer support.

My experience is that the bigger the company, the worse the support. YMMV, of course.

stefanst Feb 15, 2016 04:24 PM

It's still better than Verizon or Comcast!

Blackbird Feb 15, 2016 04:26 PM

Not sure how much you pay for your phone bill, mine is way less than $10K.
Sorry for the OT, Emilio.

ThePass Feb 15, 2016 05:36 PM

CBR1000RR > R1

/threadjack ;)

If you don't like the delrin cover you can convert a normal setup to load cell /strain gauge for $30 in electronics and a dab of super glue.
