Oil filter relocation
 

What's the good stuff to have? All the ebay stuff looks like leaky loose butthole. Local stores only sells with oil cooler which I already have, together with sandwich plate. All I'd need (I guess) are a take off plate at the oil filter mounting place on the block, lines (will probably do aeroquip lightweight hoses) and a mounting plate for the filter somewhere on the firewall. Sandwich plate with lines to and from cooler will mount to that.

Does mocal have any off the shelf pnp options for take off plates and firewall mounted filter locations?

Pricey... but fm always is.

This is how I did mine, the adapter plate is a little different, but you get the idea. I didn't want it on the firewall because I don't like looking at it up there and I like to not make a mess.

Yeah I checked FM, saw the price and walked away. Also, I think I'd like to keep -10AN lines all around.

Changing the filter is not difficult enough to warrant all the extra failure points IMO.

The extra capacity, larger selection of oil filters, the fact that I loosen my filter and drop it straight down without spilling a single drop of oil, I can fully prime the oil filter without spilling any turning it on its side, AN lines look cool, in my personal 16 years racing I have never seen an AN line fail that was properly assembled, my dad with his 35+ years racing has never seen a properly assembled AN line fail.

Found a mocal take off plate and remote mount on ebay, both with -10 AN fittings. Will see how it looks when they show up. I figured a line to the filter straight from the motor, from there to the cooler and back to the take off plate again. Would save some failure points with another sandwich plate too. Might drill and tap the mounting plate for a temp sender, or the pan. Not sure yet.

That is why I like this oil filter mount, and why I use it. It has one inlet, (there are two part numbers, the only difference is which side the inlet is on) and there are two outlets.

Mine is setup the same way you plan on doing it, engine > oil filter > cooler > back to engine. I currently have the other port (outlet) on the remote mount plugged, but that is where I will be installing my temp gauge once I buy one.

Agree with everything Ryan said, including the cool-factor of braided stainless hose (which is what I think he meant when writing AN lines). That said, stainless braid is usually overkill (it is used to protect the hose from abrasion or maybe a rock strike and doesn't make the hose inside any better at being a hose). I like the blue high-temp hose from Pegasus, especially when used with Oetiker clamps. No failures when assembled correctly & I'm right there with Ryan's dad as far as years at the race track.

I have the Thompson relocation in my MSM. AN fittings, and all the other obvious positives that have already been pointed out.

Kit came in. Looks good. O-ringed for connection to the block, male -10AN fittings and 2 1/8 NPT ports. What lengt of line should I get? Would 15ft be in the ballpark? Block to firewall (or fender like Ryan), from there to bumper area and back to the block. What's left could be used for waterlines to feed my crusher styel defroster.
