No side impact protection my butt.

I saw that video last week and that finally got me to pull the trigger on a Hans.
Matter of fact, I ordered from you guys, should be here tomorrow.

I still haven't found what happened to the driver though (other than "he's ok"). Judging from the sounds he seemed in a bad way after that hit.

Got the video from Hans they reported that he was alright. it was probably just nerves, it was a big impact.

I think you mislabeled this one. Should have been "Put your center net up/on."

^this. His head(and body)still traveled pretty far towards the passenger side. I would love to see that is frame by frame to determine how much if his movement was his head, torso, and from the flex of the seat.
The top of the seat moved 6+ inches upon impact and was rocking like the seat mount broke after the impact.

I'm not discounting the benefits of a Head/neck restraint but I'm not sure how much is luck vs Hans in this video. The rally car into a ditch video is a awesome demonstration of a head and neck restraint.

Safety equipment that flex some is a good thing, you don't want the neck/ribs/spine to be the only thing that gives.
Mounting point should preferably bend and not brake, but there is always a threshold.

The restriction of side movement of the HANS in this clip is due to something connecting the helmet to the harness, in any way. A quad strap thingy (e.g. Hybrid) would have restricted it further, but any HNRS depends on the Harness staying in the right place during the impact. I would assume that this install is an average (if not better than average) install.

Running a center net is a small price to get some soft restriction of the seat movement and keep the driver/seat in the right part of the car.
Sadly we don't have much room on the other side in our cars. I run with less than 1/2" between Hard cage padding and my helmet ...

Would a centre net help much in this incident? The nets I have seen are triangular, tapering off towards the dash (there may be others I have not seen). With the big forward component, that might put the helmet above the net as it moves forward - this could restrain the shoulder, creating additional pressure on the neck/HANS area. Would have been nice to have had a second camera capture the forward movement, and do an analysis frame-by-frame of the two, identifying lateral and forward movements.

Speculation only, for the purpose of discussion.

And no, I am not trying to build an argument against centre nets.
