Tig finger is the cat's ass, got that and his gas lens kit. I find I just rest my hand on the folded up Tig finger and slide that along the piece. The gas lens is even better, let's me get by with 15cfm no problem maybe even less if I tried.

Well fuck..... That didn't work.

First track event on the aluminum setup, I found the muffler outlet piping was moving around and burned my bumper cover. Dug in deeper and found the core had come apart . Damnit leafy! You were right. Once the packing was all blown out the case ballooned up. I had a pretty massive backfire issue on overrun so that may have been the culprit. Need to get decel fuel cut enabled and stop that nonsense. It held up fine to 3 auto x events, and street use.

Next step is a floated stainless core and .090" case this time. I'm probably going to reduce the muffler size as well, this one was stupid quite.

Titanium exhaust is commonly used in higher end aftermarket builds.

Yeah, I think a floated stainless core would help. I'm trying to understand why it ballooned when the packing was blown out. It seems like it would take significant pressure to balloon it like that.

If that was aluminum I can believe it. Aluminum is soft metal only good really for applications with a low load force. It gets even softer with heat... this was heated a lot for a sustained period. Probably could have bent it with your pinky finger (assuming your pinky is fire proof :D)

According to other drivers the fire ball from the backfire was very clear in broad daylight and sounded like a 12 guage shotgun going off. Pretty sure that's enough pressure to expand .069" aluminum .
