-For my height, the PCI Mounts do not work well. Even though I'm 5'7", I can barely pass a broomstick test, I will probably be switching to some of OG Racing's super low mounts this coming year. Also, I could not use the sub belt mounting on the brackets due to it being too close to the seat, so I ended up hacking that section of the mount off and putting the eye bolts in the floor.
-The Sparco Rev has a super small sub belt opening, it basically turns my 6 point into a 5 point. Also, your back will probably need reconstructive surgery if you take one of these on a long drive without adding some padding of some sort.

We chose the Evolution Pro because it fit the wide range of drivers sizes that will be piloting Crusher. The see through wings greatly improve side visibility over seats with solid wings. It's overall shape allows us to mount it so that very little of the door opening is blocked. Our biggest driver can get still out with the door closed and his HNRS device( HANS) on. Ashley and Chad at Subesports were really helpful in helping us select the right seat and they have a showroom to try them out first.

So I had an existing cage, which made this installment a bit more difficult. My cage fits within 1/4" of the hard top (I thought that was really good) and it was impossible to pass the broomstick test with a helmet. To fix this I had to cut out the floor, make an angled pan that got me 1.75 inchs lower. To get myself center on the steering wheel (I'm picky about how I sit too) I had to cut about 2" out of the trans tunnel to get te seat over far enough. In the end, I sat square to the wheel, passed the test and was really happy.

Notes : 20.4lbs. Seat is very upright. To lower helmet required tilting seat back about 20°. That raised thighs, coupled with tall thigh bolsters made steering column-leg clearance too tight. Wings are really big. Even mounted as far back as would fit in tub, they make it difficult for this driver to get out of a closed door with HNRS/helmet. Seat came back out and was sold to shorter, thinner driver. Can't really recommend them for a Miata regardless of driver size. Might be OK in a sedan where the upright seating position can be more comfortable.

Fit in car: Excellent, no modifications needed to tunnel for 16" and Im pretty sure 17" would clear as well. Shoulder area clears all cages and bars since this seat has no shoulder features or halo.
Driver fit : Very good, it holds well without obstructing arms or elbows, although doesn't offer the holding power and safety of shoulders and halos. It makes a good dual duty seat if your car is street legal.

Like Aidan's it will need a back brace. Since my car is a dual driver we had to make it adjustable and use an adjustable sub belt. With the way its setup we can have the seat moved and pinned and the sub belt adjusted for a driver change in about 1 minute. It is surprisingly comfortable for an aluminum seat, but not for long periods of time. Any more than a few hours would become quite uncomfortable, probably not ideal for endurance racing.

I chose the seat because I am a bigger guy and for about 10minutes I actually thought this would be driven on the street occasionally so I liked the ability to remove the DTC. I removed the cushion on the seat because I felt like I wasn't sitting in the seat but on it. Once I removed the cushion I couldn't have been happier.

the passenger side is much much easier to get a seat into. Installing a pro2000II (the widest seat Sparco has) only took some slight hammering. We installed a pro adv on the drivers side, that took trans tunnel fabrication.
Not a certified seat, but I'll post the info for us HDPE folks that are on the less pointy end...

I wanted a set of decent seats for HPDE that wouldn't break the bank and be harness compatible. At the price point, it's pretty much either the Sparco Sprint, or these. Sprints are cloth over tubing, which I didn't want, and they're too tight in the shoulders. I took a ride a while back in Keith Tanner's Targa Miata with FX1 Pros, and they fit, so I pulled the trigger. When I cage the car down the road, I'll upgrade to a certified seat.
I picked up the PCI mounts used, and didn't realize at the time that they were the 'setback' version, which have the mounting holes back 1.6" compared to the standard version. I may end up replacing the driver's side with a standard version... I think it will be OK for me, but not for SWMBO, who will also be driving the car (I'm trying get a compromise position that will work for both of us). A good deal of banging on the trans tunnel is required, but the brackets bolt into the stock holes, with no need to remove the rear 'humps'.
The FX1 Pro has both side and bottom mount provisions. Using the PCI mounts (and pretty much, just mounting these low enough in a Miata to be useful) requires removing the bottom mount bosses to get them low enough. Fortunately, they're pretty easy to cut off, though it sucks having to do that to a brand new seat. I used a 4 1/2" grinder with a cutoff disc, and a sanding disc to smooth things out. I'll lay some glass cloth over the bottom to clean things up. There's some pics on Keith's site of what needs to be removed: Targa Miata
The driver's side is centered on the wheel, and I can easily pass the broomstick test with my HDHCDD bar. I may replace the bottom cushions with closed cell foam, which will give me even more clearance. The wings touch the door cards on both sides, and the front inside of the driver's seat contacts the trans tunnel.
I haven't finalized the positioning, as I'm still in the middle of a bunch of other work. I'll take some pics with me seated in the car when I get around to it.
EDIT: Updated for drop floor installation.
I finally got tired of using the fixed compromise position that didn't really fit either me or my wife, so in early 2020 I installed a Watson Racing drop floor kit so I could add sliders and keep the seat position low. Result was ~1" further drop in seat height, and works perfectly with sliders. The Watson kit is very nice, and there's a thread on it here if you want more details.
