Yeah I think so. EMRA is an actual timed event tho and they give you some classroom time. Not sure about SCDA. I have never actually been on the track. I want to do 1 day with EMRA and 1 SCDA this summer. I wouldnt mind doing a CARTCT event either just cause I know most of the group from autox.

praying wont get the car finished but I hope the build goes well all the same

Smooth every driver input. Run a gear higher while learning. Watch for paint and oil patches. The transients when it just begins to rain or is dring out are hardest to manage.
Thought I had some crazy problems in a chump car race until I learned Oil was being dumped on the track and turned the event into an ice racing competition. |

If it's going to be wet for a while, unhook the swaybars. The biggest piece of advice I have that I havent seen mentioned? Stay the HELL off the gators. Edit:

I use full thread RA1s - they work, but suck when compared to a REAL wet race tire.

On tires, slicks CAN work in a downpour. One of my favorite days ever was on Shenandoah with R6s. Rolled the ---- out of everyone in some crazy never-ending slide :) Smoothness and throttle modulation were key. That would have been way more difficult in a more powerful car, admittedly. |
if you have the means I highly recommend picking up a set of rains. I don't but have friends who have em and I wanna punch em in the face when it rains hehe JK.

Thanks for all the input, all of it has been duly noted.
So... it didn't rain today. We did however get ZERO track time (we got to run an automatic rx-8 on a wet skid pad, but it was as you'd assume: totally gay). Yes. Zero track time. It appears that there were some "typos" on the invites and e-mails. On a completely unrelated note there were about 700 angry people at lime rock today. I'll try my chances doing an SCDA at njmp this summer. Hopefully, I'll be able to use some of these techniques. |

My friends said they had a decent time... but they arent exactly track rats.
Their pics.... https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1334886559 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1334886559 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1334886559 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1334886559 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1334886559 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1334886559 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1334886559 (FYI They did get in a MANUAL RX8 on the skidpad) They did: - Ride along drift session in the ISF - Skidpad in manual RX8 - Autox in the mazda 3 - hot lap ride along in the miata. |
When was the first picture taken? I'm pretty sure I'm waiting in line if it was from noon to one.
The is-f was crap. The 911 had bald tires, was understeering like a pig, and was getting it's ---- pushed in by the ms3 and NC. The lotus evora "broke". The guy who drove the cup car drove like a complete girl and kept lifting on the front straight and driving it nowhere to its limit. But my friend that works for i-racing was there so we got to pretend to race on lime rock, in lime rock. That was the highlight of my day. We literally waited an hour and a half for the freaking rx-8's and they wouldn't let us wait for a 6 speed. Even better: some dick head decided to hose out the porto potties right next to the line for the skidpad. A million people were covered in poo/pee-water. Today was about as enjoyable as passing a kidney stone. If you have the choice to do this next year, do not unless you have absolutely nothing better to do. |

Just got back from a rainy time trial. Only 6 people decided to show up, and 2 dropped out early... so we ended up getting as much track time as we wanted. :p
Not only that, but my brakes and tires showed very little wear afterwards. I love rainy track days  |
