Got a link? This is all I could find (semi-finalist announcement):
Mazda MX-5Cup.com
Adam Poland was my instructor last weekend. Really nice guy and AWESOME driver (he drove my car for a session . . . SSSMMOOOOTTHHHH!!!). I sure hope he's a finalist.
Adam's building himself a turbo Miata too.

I'll show you how big my poz rod is, baby.
Don't get me wrong, the SCCA is extremely flawed, but in my experience, the competition level at the championship events of the respective organizations are lightyears different. The NASA Nationals just can't hold a flag to the Runoffs. I think that's the whole point of this thread. If you were really hoping to climb the Mazdaspeed ladder, you'd be better off going through the SCCA.
Also, if the only experince you've ever had with the SCCA is "Regional Racing" then yea, I could see where some of you guys are coming from. SCCA regional racing is a joke for the most part. There are some localized Regional Series (SARRC for instance) that have decent car fields, cars, and drivers, but for the most part if you go to your average low car count SCCA Regional Race, it's not very impressive. You'd have to go to one of the big "Majors" races to get a feel for top level SCCA Club racing.

All sports car racing is pretty much a shadow of what it once was. It was routine to have 250 entries at an Oregon Region regional in the 80's and 90's. The first year I had my S2, I drove my *** off (after setting a couple of lap records in my first class) to fight for 4th place. There was no drop-off at the front of the field between nationals and regionals. In a bad economy, all of the clubs struggle.
