I know people typically use some amsoil dominator grease, but I have some Super Lube synthetic all purpose grease in hand, which is also an NLGI grade 2, just as the amsoil stuff. The only difference seems to be the maximum working temperature, where the super lube is 450° F, while the amsoil is 588° F. The car is a low power CSP running on rivals, which I sometimes use for lapping and such.

I think the super lube should be more than adequate, I just wanted your inputs.

Grease is cheap hubs are expensive, I personally run NEO synthetic in my track car, and repack my hubs every other weekend. Have had very little issue with hub failure.

Sav, its not about saving money, it's about making sure the hubs are good. It's just part of my prep. Don't want to have a hub failure. Im not familiar with the rules in the classes that you run. In scca in f prod, we are not allowed bigger brakes and there is a lot of heat soak that occurs with 1.6 brakes. The NEO grease is rated to 800 degrees, and has never let me down, I had a lot of hub failures prior to the change to uno, and thus is my grease of choice.

Sorry, that wasn't directed at you. I was reminding the OP that spending a couple of hours repacking a set of $60+/ea bearings with 'cheap' grease just to save $12 was ill-advised. There are other greases that are comparable to Amsoil (Mobilith SHC220 has nearly identical specs), but there are popular greases (Redline CV2, specifically) which are total garbage. (It's worth mentioning that everything Redline makes is garbage.) I can't find "uno" grease on Google - is it Eneos or some other brand?

I don't have specific plans to be at the Runoffs, but if I'm free that weekend I may be floating around. If I see you car, I'll say hi

I was looking for the data sheet on the pure nickle anti-seize I use and while on their site I found this gem. Could be something for the X-Treemist of the track guys to experiment with. Like FrankL we don't get ready access to either of these products down here ... I'm interested to know your cost as the usual is that when I do find it here it will be 3-6 times the price!

But sometimes not....be good to know if I should source from the US rather than here....

I forgot, I think I paid like $12 for the tube of amsoil I bought. Dont the aussie make your own **** like this? With snake venom and tarantula blood? It would be closer to import.

Its getting late in the off season and time to start the "panic" pre season maintenance and upgrade program!

I think bearings all round is the go....after taking some wins and getting the car competitive I want this 2nd season to be a serious challenge on our Classic Japanese Series...

Mobil sell it in Aussie, I buy it by the 20kg pail( front hubs on Merc Buses),so NZ Mobil should do it.

mx5-kiwi, where'd you find it for $17? I could only find the $32 14oz cartridge from the Amsoil dealer down in the South Island. I've repacked the Repco ones I got but have found a cheaper (possibly better as well) hub from Auckland Bearings near Wairau Road. It's either Timken or NTK that they had in stock.

Sk, I just re- searched for it now and can't find the supplier...I will see if I can find the receipt in the next day or so.

re the Timken and ntk....there is another thread here and on spec Miata about these hubs failing under race stress. I think I am going to stick with OEM for these parts for this reason.

Hopefully they are not the same part re branded (quite likely)...but for road and general play day stuff the timken etc are probably fine.
