Seats and Harness advice
Hey guys
Im hoping to get into more HDPE events this year. Im looking into a seat and harness setup. I came across soloracer.com with a package deal you get two Corbeau forza Fia seats and Corbeau 5pt cam lock harness for $1000. It sounds like a good deal to me. Im 5'11'' 175lbs so these seats should be fit me and miata well. My miata isnt a daily driver, im hoping to make it a nice weekend track toy thats still streetable. Heres the link Corbeau Forza Seat & Corbeau Camlock Harness Package What do you guys think, is it a good deal or should i save up for something differnt? |
Using the Corbeau brackets and Forza's in my '90 = massive bashing of the trans tunnel on the driver side with a 5lb sledge.

which brackets did you use? corbeau offers on the site
C22060L driver side C22060R passenger side but these are sliders. Id have no problem doing fixed seat mounts. How did you mount yours? I dont want to smash the trans tunnel to make them fit |

I have an Ultrashield Spec Miata seat bolted to the floor with some steel brackets an G-Force 6-point harness. The aluminum seats are much more comfortable than one would think just by looking at them. The 17" version requires minor tunnel bashing that you can't see unless the carpet is removed. Regardless of your seat choice, upgrading to 6-point harness is well worth it if you value your family jewels.
Mine came from SPS, they were kind enough to honor a 10% SCCA discount that another vendor advertised. |
+1 for UltraShield. Made in TX. Buddy has them and let me drive them . . . they're nice . . . and comfortable. Planning to order some for my track car that I'm building. Most bang for the $$ IMHO. Designed to fit a Miata too.

Try seats first. I fit that corbu seat. I wouldnt want to drive in it very long. I fit perfectly in a 15.5" kirkey and have driven it for many hours without fatigue, and would again.
I wouldnt run a 5 point harness. I would direct mount the passenger seat to the floor. |

I wish I had the opportunity to try a few different seats. I've only sat in a sparco sprint V seat in a miata, which for me fit like a glove. I'm going to look into ultra shield to what they're all about. I'll reconsider the 5pt and look into 6pt setups
Thanks for the input guys! |
Just go to a racing shop or racing event, you can find seats to sit in.

2 years into having my seats/harness setup and I wish I would have paid more for pull up harnesses.
|
Ultrashield Rally Sport or Kirkey Intermediate Road Race, and name brand 5 point harness.
|
What seems to be popular with the guys that run spec miata?
Pull up harness noted! Next event that i go to ill try to sit in a few different seats and get a better idea what works best for me |
