Default Re-Building a 1990 Miata For Endurance Racing

At the beginning of this year I picked up a 1990 Miata for $2000 that was caged and ready to go Lemons racing other than the fact it wouldnt run.
A quick fuel pump it was ready to go! Unded up doing two races this year changing nothing other than the Timing Belt and adding a Spec Miata Suspension kit.
After this the engine is making some interesting noises and needs more power!

So I was thinking of going to a VVT swap, My question is what is needed for a VVT Swap? Im looking for a pretty comprehensive list if some one has one.
What wiring will I need to keep out of my current car if any? I will be running the MS3. This is a race car so alot of the swap stuff doesnt pertain. And whats the best way to get more power from a VVT motor while keeping reliable?

If only there was a prominently displayed sticky thread at the top of the Engine Performance section for this commonly asked question.

No. You have to do lots of wiring yourself. You can search on here for a distributer who has most of the OEM plugs and pins for sale though. So you can try to build a harness as clean as possible.

If you have the skill set, I'd recommend building your own harness. We have chased more problems with old OEM wiring than I dare to count. If I were you, I'd skip the VVT and go with a 99-00 BP4W head. Similiar power, but less demand on the oil system is always a plus for budget enduro cars.
