what's the difference?

would love to hear how well it fits in the miata. I made a mistake with a pro-2000. Fit horribly.

Just got a note from one of our Sparco distributors:
"The QRT-V is no longer being brought into the US by Sparco." So it's just the QRT-R now.

QRT V was the 'euro' model. Only brought over when QRT R quantity was late/short. V also has higher side mount hole locations and needs the taller brackets. Harness slot shape different as mentioned above. |
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d591facf42.jpgI fit in my duece roll bar finally and the seat bolted down. This seat fits perfectly. Anything slightly larger would never fit.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...f6553df674.jpgDoesnt touch door https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...199430c28b.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...11c86f8d25.jpgB pillar https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d837d8496e.jpgThe newer pci mount is great, but there is still about an inch or 2 between seat bottom and floor. Would need custom longer bracket, cut out the rear mounting humps and massage the back rest. I still want to be able to put stock seat back in. Im happy with the height since im only 6 foot. |
are you lower than the stock seat?
|
Yes way lower than stock seat. I'll put stock seat in just for a picture comparison in future. I didnt bolt in the roll bar yet.
|
looks like it fits but just barely. How's the comfort?
|
Looks tight on the B-pillar, will be interested to see it when the trim is back on. But the door closes which is the usual issue so that's great!
Keen to see how much lower it is than stock and hear your thoughts on comfort over an hours drive. |
Wont be driven for a while. How much comfort can you expect out of a miata with competition seat. The trim on the pillars is thin, should not effect it much. Seat barely fits, I took the chance to try this seat out blind and I'm happy with it. I took most of the seat apart to avoid damage, the quality isn't the best, it's what 800-1000 seats feel like. I didnt expect 6000 porsche gt2 seat quality. It's very lightweight

Hoping for more comfort than my Cobra Monaco which leaves my tailbone in agony after a 15min track session |
How the hell does this seat fit but not the Sparco Revs i just tried to make work on the same mounts? The seats physically fit great, but i cannot pass a broomstick test sitting in them, and i'm only 5'8".

PCI mount was impossible to fit in my car low enough for my standards. It sits above the humps, leaving an air gap from mount to floor and doesn't allow most seats to bottom out in the mount, leaving another air gap from seat to mount. I passed it on and cut my rear humps out. |
Right. They work great with my Sprints, but i also sat in a car last week that had the 1 piece PCI mounts on Sprints with the rear humps out, and it was looooowwwwwwww.
If i could verify that the 1 piece PCI mounts fit on Revs, i'd probably give that a shot. I dislike the adjustment design of the 2 piece mounts from a seat height perspective because the adjustment bolts/nuts also take up available room for low mounting. It only works with the Sprints because sling bottom. |
It should be obvious that the relevant dimension here is trunk length, NOT height. I know tall drivers who have no problem with seating position, I know short(er) drivers who do. Because we vary in how we are built, over and above height alone.

I think it's the seat, not any weird way that i'm built. It's not like i have a 22" inseam. :magna:

I mean i DON'T have that lol. I have a 30" inseam, which doesn't leave much room for my torso to be freakish.

An update!
In my quest of trying to fit my oversized torso into a hair dresser's car, I picked up a Sparco QRT and a lowered seat pan for my miata. My buddy T of All Automotive (Twibs415 to us trubo kitteh folk) offered to help me in my cause. Seat pan cut, welded, and painted, T was able to fit my Sparco QRT with Sparco rails, was able to get the QRT and me under the roll bar. If you are in the SF bay area, definitely worth hitting up T for anything miata / car related work. A few notes:
