Spring selection on track-only car

Hi,

I have a set of Tein SS coilovers from my street car that I'd like to reuse in my dedicated track car. It's essentially an NB that is fully stripped but mostly stock otherwise.

The coilovers currently have 6/5kg springs (standard rates for JDM SS) which worked well for mostly street use and a bit of track, however now that I am looking at track-only use I have considered swapping to something like 12/7kg.

Do you think these springs will over power the dampeners?

I am on a limited budget so although the ideal solution may be to get Xidas etc, that is not viable at this point in time.

Cheers

too bad you're in Australia, I'd want to buy the 5K springs off you.

Many people around here start with 700/400# so your closet combo would be like 12/7.

You could put the 6K in the rear, and just get a 10K front and try that out. IIRC, Teins rule of thumb is +/- 2Kg/mm for the valving. I'm not sure is the SS has the same valving as the Flex, but I would think they could handle 10/6, probably no a whole lot more without a revalve. If they are the same valving, then I'm pretty sure they can handle the 12/7s, but don't quote me on that, IIRC it's the basics that don't have the same valving.
