Stiffer Dynalites.....
1 Attachment(s)
I opted to make the most of what I got by adding a bridge bolt to my Dynalites. It comes standard on the Dynalite narrow caliper so I figured what the hell it can't hurt and must surely stiffen the caliper. I added a 1" master and gutted sport rears brakes. That should keep me happy for a while.

Where did you get the bridge bolt?

Gutted rear? What is this mod?

Is there a shortage of cotter pins on the market? :) But seriously, it it supposed to prevent the pads from moving vertically within the caliper?

Did you even read the thread? Or the thread title for that matter.
Too much snark can cause a rash. |
I'm all sorts of rashy

I ordered the bolt, spacer and nut from summit. Let me work on part numbers for you guys. I did it to stiffen the caliper not for better pad retention. I had to shave down the top of my current pads to fit. Next time around I'll just order the correct ones.

Gutted rear is the process of removing the e-brake adjuster from the caliper. Lots of threads about this floating around. It helps keep the pedal high as the pads wear. The caliper now works like a standard one instead of a self adjuster style.

Does that cause you to lose the E-brake too?

Sorry I can't seem to dig up the info. I ordered them through Summit Racing but there is no history available on there site.
IIRC I called Wilwood and got the part numbers from them and then ordered from Summit. |
How about an email with the invoice? I wonder if they would work with the dyna pro
|
I looked through my e-mails too. I think I checked out as a "guest" hence no record of the transaction. I should have posted this last year when it was all fresh in front of me.
Not sure about doing the same to a dynapro. Call wilwood tech line and ask. They were super cool about helping me with what I needed. |

Sav, I should choose my words more carefully to properly reflect terminology of such a mod. Gutted calipers is my interpretation of the mod. Deleting rear caliper adjuster seems more appropriate.
Thanks Jpreston, that's one of the threads I found we researching the mod. |
I'm gonna debby downer you and venture to guess that wont add any rigidity, but I look forward to your results.

According to: Wilwood High Performance Disc Brakes - Caliper Product Number: 120-9693-SI
The wilwood bridge bolt kit: 230-10118 can be retrofitted to all DynaPro calipers. |
DISREGARD DISREGARD DISREGARD DISREGARD DISREGARD

I'm not sure. The caliper claims to be compatible with 7812 pads. Seems odd that they would require grinding.
|
OK, before I spread more misinformation, yes the Dynapro uses 7812 pads.
I've removed my previous comment. What I was thinking was actually the use of 7752 pads in Dynapros per a discussion with another vendor; compound choices and all....irrelevant to topic at hand. There are definitely bridge bolt kits for any of the dynapro's that use the 7816 pads (same shape but more material) but depending on caliper width, may need to be shortened. Hence your inquiry in the other thread. Gotcha. |
I run the 7112 pads also. That need to be cut to fit. Because you still retain the clip system that holds the pads in you must still grind out the pads.
|
Thats what I ran the 7112's.
Since making some changes my bridgebolt dynalites are up for grabs. I also have V8R 11.75 bracket and lines. |
