East Coast Midwest Supermiata FB groups
A few changes in FB and site URL's for 2018
Main/ West Coast https://www.facebook.com/groups/SupermiataRacing/ East Coast https://www.facebook.com/groups/Supermiataeast Race Series website: https://racesupermiata.com/ |
Here's to hoping the series can take off on the east coast!
There's very large gap between Mid-O and NOLA.....~1000 miles. Maybe we can get them to do SPM at Road Atlanta or NCM eventually. |
Excited to see how this takes off here. I'd love to build a S1 car.

The east coast facebook page seems to be locked out unless you log in to facebook, not everyone has a facebook account. I can see the main/west coast facebook page just fine.
Also, it would be nice if the webpage also listed the east coast schedule. |
Races for 2018
March 17-18: Heartland Park, Topeka, KS May 5-6: Road America, Elkhart Lake, WI September 22-23: Mid Ohio, Lexington, OH September 28-30: NOLA Motorsports Park, Avondale, LA December 1-2: COTA, Austin, TX |

I've mirrored the settings of https://www.facebook.com/groups/SupermiataEast/ to https://www.facebook.com/groups/southeastmiatas/ SouthEastMiatas works without a FB account, but SuperMiataEast does not..... yet. |

The only downside is the NOLA is the closest track on the 2018 calendar and it’s a 10hr drive (I’m in Orlando). If we could get Daytona, Barber, and road Atlanta I would figure out a way to make those three and NOLA. All I’d have to do to run S2 in my car is remove ballast, switch the rearend, and load a lower hp map. Time to switch to E85. I was reading the updated safety requirements that must be met by 2019, I did have a question when it comes to the emergency switch. Does a Cartek battery isolator meet the requirement? I would need to move where I was planing on putting the external button (rear quarter) if it’s allowed. |
If the isolator cuts the engine and all electrical with the engine running, it's good. Has to interrupt the alternator. Otherwise the switch just keeps you from cranking the engine but won't actually stop it if its running. More than one way to do this and a good subject for a new thread.

I did get an email from a WRL official stating that they are still looking at adding more races that may coincide with their HPDE program (I assume this is something similar to what the California group does with Speed Ventures). Though the official did state that this maybe more focused in the Southwest at this time. I know that Track Unlimited (the group that helps runs the Southeast WRL events) did run a Spec Miata Enduro last year at Barber that was pretty popular. So maybe we'll see something similar to this. |
Don't count me out yet... I'm still lurking n watching. This would certainly motivate me to build the car to S2 specs IF I don't have to travel 800 miles one way to compete.
NOLA, RA, BMP, NCM, VIR are certainly doable. |
Where's the dam delete post button?

Joined the East Coast group and will be watching attentively. I think my current car might be too nice for W2W, but I may consider picking up a NB1/2 for vastly superior goodness that everyone's talking about.
