I would but I need this thing called money.
Eventually ill get there. I need:
1. Money
2. Experience
3. more money
4. a trailer
5. more money
I just found your podcast btw. Very cool.
And I stopped by TC Design to inquire about roll bars for my car and I saw you car sitting there next to a GT3 RS. They really do great work overthere.

We are installing Tilton pedals. Given the S1's kinetic energy potential, I wanted something more like an FIA cage than a Spec Miata cage. That mean straight extension from door hoop/dash bar to upper front shock mounts. Those extensions preclude the OEM clutch master, brake master, brake booster. Thus the pedals. Winced at the cost but I feel a lot more comfortable having that corner of the car with a bunch more crash structure than the Miatcage equipped S2 car I just sold. I think TC is going to build some sort of 3D door hoops as well. One side benefit is getting a dash mounted balance bar without the "knee point" style adjustment of a Tilton or Wilwood prop valve. That means being able to tune trail braking bias and straight line threshold braking together which standalone prop valves can't do. That's a double edged sword however. Since a standalone allows you to tune high line pressure straight line bias independently from low line pressure trail braking being tuned with compounds, piston and rotor diameters.
I'm not sure if we will use the throttle pedal as TC tells me it will be a lot more complex to get set up (new throttle cable).
TC is also building the 3" exhaust Ordered two 409SS Flowmasters resonators. One shorty for the midpipe and one larger one for the tail. I'm hoping to keep everything tucked up enough to be able to add a deep diffuser for WRL. Hoping the turbo will keep it quiet enough for MRLS and enduros. I don't like my cars loud. Too many hours spent in enduros trying to hear the crew chief on the radio. If it's still too loud, I'll swap the rear for one of Flowmasters multi chamber, 1/4 wave mufflers. For those of you unfamiliar with 1/4 waver resonators, that's a Helmholtz resonator. The OEM ND and S2000 exhaust have Helmholtz resonators in them. Goodwin Racing incorporates 1/4 resonators into some of their ND exhausts.

A few updates, TC should have some new pics before the end of the week.
We are using a Precision 350hp intercooler. TC is integrating the mounts into the IC to save some space. I haven't seen the ducting up front but it should be pretty trick. It includes the oil cooler and brake ducts.
Having officially been kicked out of NASA for creating the Supermiata series, I plan to do some Lucky Dog Racing and WRL enduros this year. Might be looking for some additional crew when we go to CO and TX.
We'll likely run a second car, closer to S2 spec which is sorta PTE/PTD-ish
March 25-26 24 hr Buttonwillow - LDR
May 6-7 8+ 6 hr WSIR (Willows Springs) - LDR
Aug 26-27 24hr High Plains, CO - WRL
Dec 1-3 8hr + 7hr COTA - WRL
Playing around with the rules to allow a little more DIY aero without driving costs up too much. Stuff like little flaps, deflectors on the A & B pillars to keep air out of the interior. Maybe adding holes to rear window to further reduce drag and make the wing work a little better.
Also looking at simple front fender mods to relieve pressure behind the tire and also maybe vent the engine bay through the inner wheel well/tub.

crew for Team Supermiata Endurance Racing
When it comes time to enlist crew, we are perhaps more regimented than your typical club racing team. We run it like a pro team. Everything is planned and scheduled. Clear hierarchy of command and responsibilities. Crew trained to back up key roles. When you show up to crew, your phone gets put on mute and you work. 100% focused on kicking ***, no excuses. We have no place for friends that want to "help out" although the offer is genuinely appreciated. We know that is takes far less energy and error rate is lower to have a small but dedicated, well trained and disciplined crew than "a bunch of friends willing to pitch in". We cover all expenses and in return require a firm commitment to each event in advance. We only accept folks that are willing to perform their duties to the utmost. I understand it's a lot to ask for an unpaid position but we have always been able to find folks like us (crazy) that are willing to do it.
Here in SoCal, our crew does enduros just for training and car development. When we get to the key races, we are a well oiled machine. In short, we don't f around. If you contact me directly offering to help, expect to be pushed hard and have high expectations placed on you. I warn those that volunteer for the 24 hr races "This might end up being the hardest think you ever do. You will be pushed to your physical or mental breaking point at some point during this event. It is at that point, that we will require your best, not your worst. Think hard before saying yes." For COTA and High Plains, we will contact local friends who we know have experience running WRL, Chumpcar and NASA enduros to look for additional crew.
I have the greatest respect and admiration for the core members of our race team over the years. Smart individuals with a dogged work ethic that I literally trust my life with.

Each team member in this pic was issued a team jacket, t shirts and I think beanie cap. Just before the start ofthe '12 T25 so not all wearing the team gear.
