Titleing race cars...
Do you guys bother to register the titles on race cars that aren't street legal?
|
Both of mine are titled. It makes selling/disposing of the car way easier when the time comes.

Mine has a Florida Cert of Destruction... hurricane Ivan car. Nope - no registering (legally) the car. But that didn't stop me from driving it out to Barber for the Grand Am races.
|
Mine is titled and registered... I bedded some new brakes on a back road last month, lol.
I believe the only thing that wouldn't pass our state inspection is the open hood vent, it needs at least a mesh covering. The car is one massive cop magnet though. |
Mine is titled and unregistered since it started life as a street car. Even if it hadn't I'd still title it and keep it registered/insured as long as I could.

I live in SC where there are no safety or emissions testing. So you simply register your race car as a normal car, pay taxes, then pay for tags and you are fine.
|
I'd say title it. Never know when a cop/sheriff/etc wants to give you grief. Even if it is towed to and from events.
One of the local auto-x guys had to tear the front end off his old CP camaro for the VIN to prove it was his. This was while the car was on the trailer. |

That's the Best Possible Route. /Granted, it's not legal in half the counties in my state, but I digress. It's legal where it's registered, and that's all that matters legally! |
I did not title or register because I don't want to pay taxes and registration fees, nor do I want to deal with emissions inspections. In a more lax state that did not have inspections, I may have gone a different route.
