Trackspeed @ 2013 NASA Championships

I'm off to Utah this week for the 2013 NASA Championships at Miller Motorsports Park! I'll be racing in the Performance Touring "E" class, which is the slowest of the PT classes but one of the most competitive as well. The car I'll be racing is Rover, a purpose-built PTE car built from a 1990 chassis.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1378090788 PTE is one of the fastest-growing club NASA club racing classes, and for good reason - its points-based formula allows for close racing between a wide variety of cars. The Miata is a very popular car for PTE, and 7 of the cars in class are Miatas, but there's also a Porsche 944 and a pair of Nissan Sentras competing this week. All of the Performance Touring classes use a minimum power/weight ratio formula to ensure parity between cars (PTE cars must have more than 16.5lbs per horsepower), and then use a points system to limit car modifications to keep things as even as possible. A national-level PTE Miata is about 3-4 seconds a lap faster than a national-level SM on a fast 2-minute course, but the PTE car is cheaper to build and much more fun to drive. Racing starts Thursday with qualifying races on Thursday and Friday, and the results from those races set the grid for the championship grid Sunday. I'll be posting race video to this thread throughout the week as well as updates to our Facebook page from the track, so stay tuned for some great club racing! |

Wednesday test day is under the belt. I was out here a month ago for a 3-day regional weekend so I did all my setup and tweaking then. Just scrubbing in tires today for the races Thursday/Friday/Sunday. Tires have to get stacked and sit at rest for 24hrs to properly heat cycle, hence the jackstands.
Tomorrow begins the real fun - qualifying at 1:45pm and the first qualifying race at 5:20pm. Times are MST. Follow live timing and scoring: champs - National Auto Sport Association - nasaproracing.com https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1378348538 |
Did you even try to put a competitive lap down? Curious where everyone was stacking up. Not that it means much with everyones sandbags in.

So make two posts, but don't include the lap time.
 |

Andrew leading E by almost 2 seconds with a 2:15.7. William second and Kohler third.
Sonny leading D and Emilio leading C. Emilio has shown up as PTC and TTB, so I'm guessing it's a t&s glitch and he's actually PTB. His PTC and TTB times were right in there with the PTB leader so he's doing well either way. |
