Trailering - open trailer with no top
I just bought this NC with a full cage and no hardtop (yet). I trailer it to the track in an open trailer. I'm looking for a hardtop, but that may take a bit and want to keep rain and general crap out of it while trailering it. I bought a decent CoverKing cover for it, but I'm sure it won't stay on with the wind/air when trailered.
Any thoughts appreciated. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4d7825f60e.jpg |
Be careful with covers while trailering, they flap and act like sand paper and will sand off your paint.

Thanks. How do I keep out rain etc?

Interesting solution to reduce the tongue weight with those U-Haul trailers. Aren’t you worried about it flying forward if you have to stop quickly?
Re: rain, I would rip out the carpet and drill a couple of drain holes as previously mentioned. You could probably design some kind of bikini top that attaches to the windshield frame and stretches over the roll cage pretty easily. It wouldn’t keep all the water out, but probably most of it. |
dont tow in the rain and it wont get wet

Get some material 3/4" plywood would work. Some U bolts. Big FAT fender washers. Bolt on a temporary roof to the cage that takes seconds to remove.
May have to use some rubber or pipe insulation to "gasket" the windshield. This is your cheapest option that should do the trick until it starts to rain sideways. |
Thanks for the replies. The interior is already stripped and has some drain holes. Interesting idea on the temp roof.

Also, be careful of bungee cords... I found out the hard way using a cover and bungee cords. The cords acted like tiny hammers in my rear quarter panels. |
