I'm working on a serie with Track and Time for next summer. English | Track and Time

It will be a Time Attack series (to begin) with F1 qualif style sessions. No solosprint here... pass everywhere on track if your faster. Easy peasy...

Miata serie like supermiata (no official name yet).

We're aiming for 5 tracks and a season below 900$CAN...

-ICAR Mirabel just north of Montreal (Mirabel | Circuit ICAR)
-Sanair superspeed way close to VT border and my home track (Sanair - English home)
-Shannonville motorsport park in Belleville, Ontario (Shannonville Motorsport Park Inc)
-Calabogie in Ontario (Calabogie Motorsports Park »)
-St-Eustache or Montmagny speedway (Autodrome de Montmagny)

Rules are not established but it will be similar to Supermiata in Cali.

-2100lbs car without driver in impound
-140-145WHP (not set yet)
-5 speeds transmission
-Open diff, Torsen or Tochigi-Fuji diff only with 3.9, 4.1 or 4.3 final drive
-7000RPM rev limiter
-any tire of 100TW (could be 200TW)
-Any coilovers with a maximum of 1 damping adjustment allowed
-Any swaybar, strutbar, bushings
-Rollbar required but full cage recommended (esp. if we want to step to W2W later)
-Current SFI and/or FIA rated 5 or 6 pt harnesses
-Update backdate from any 90-05, suspension, engine, brake, etc

Some differences :

-Any brake
-Aero (EP air dam, splitter and any wing)

Recommended but not mandatory :

SFI Center net mounted to cage structure on all ends.
SFI Window net mounted to cage structure on both ends
Current SFI rated one piece driving suit
SA2005 or newer full face helmet with functioning visor
SFI rated fire retardant socks
SFI rated fire retardant driving gloves
SFI rated fire retardant shoes
SFI rated head and neck restraint

Nothing to win except maybe a plastic trophy, few beers and the fun of racing.

So who's in ?

You need min comp weight to include the driver. doesn't make sense then. its like saying, don't compete if you are fat.

also, lol @ open aero.

Love the idea! I also think aero should be more regulated ( what happens if i come with no winshield?)
How many cars do you think will participate? Are you considering accepting other makes/models that would have the same power to weight ratio?

Good luck!

Sorry no open aero but Ep air dam, splitter will be accepted and any wing... sorry about the confusion.

I understand the point of you min comp weight, but we have to start somewhere. I know I'm 40+ # then some other drivers but who cares, we want to start something. Will adjust if the need is there and with time.

Yes sorry it was late (read middle of the night), it means EP air dam, splitter and any wing or spoiler. No windshield... we'll I dont't know to be honest, didn't think of that as I never saw one here or Ontario on track, except auto-x.

It will be a TA4 trim from Time and Track ruleset so any one can register to compare his/her time but the competiton for Miata Evolution (maybe the name) will be strictly for Miata's owner.

Love too, but we need to choose some track and respect a budget. Could be Mosport or LCMT but those are really expensive as is Calabogie and ICAR...

Sounds like fun but please don't call it SuperMiata, which is a wheel to wheel racing series. What you have is a time trial (time attack), which is what our Miata Challenge is. I would encourage you to have some flexibility in rules for TT. Time trialers will not be interested in a nearly spec series. For w2w OTOH, controls work well to achieve parity.

Open aero is a real can of worms.

Maybe MX5 SuperSprint or MX5 Cup?

Good luck with it!

We decided against Supermiata for those fact, and is probably 949 copyright. Hope to bring this serie to supermiata W2W style, but not many miata around here are caged so far.

Yeah, it will not be open aero, some of you guys are too creative and crazy! EP dam, splitter and any wing or spoilers. We want cars, thus the flexibility on almost everything...

MX5 Cup is already a serie but Miata Cup isn't. Miata Cup Challenge or TT could do it. Anyway, need some interest and driver commitment !

I dunno if you have ever seen an impound weight a bunch of cars. They literal drive the car on to the scales, wait a bit, then drive off.

What you are suggesting is more complicated (drive to impound, get out, wait a bit longer, get back in, drive off). And also less fair.

Just saying, its easy to change how you do competition weight. include driver weight and put it at 2200 lbs if you want.

Don't apologize, I am just giving you a suggestion. While I wouldn't mind moving to Canada, I am currently not a possible competitor

Okay let put it this way, prepare a car to minimal weight. We will not check every car after or before each day. The series is for the fun of it, friendship and good competition. If we have a doubt we will ask to put it on the scales and or dyno... That's it.

Sorry I did some copy and paste and kept the impound thing. I want to compete, no do the police all day and come to hate it and regret. In fact there's no impound here for those amateur racing series.

Please give me some time as you maybe know it, there's a lot of work involve and we're beginning. Will create a list of rules soon to be released.

Just want/need to know if there is interest here as it's the best forum platform for tracking a Miata and they re few series like this north of NY let say....

I would suggest three classes, loosely based on our MC rules.

No minimun weights

Street
200tw min
9" wheel max
No DIY aero
No forced induction
Any bolt on engine mod
No engine internal mod including non OEM machining
OEM ecu only. No piggy back
Any suspension mod
Must have full OEM interior
Open or OEM LSD only
3.9, 4.1 or 4.3 final drive only

Mod
Any engine mod but must be B6 or BP
Any suspension mod
Any differential
Any final drive ratio
100tw min for N/A
200tw min for F/I
Can run either diy aero or F/I but not both
9" max wheel width

Unlimited
Has to be an 89-05 Miata
Any engine
Any aero including windshield frame removal
Any wheel
Any tire

You have to accomodate the cars that are already built with only minimal mods to fit into a class.
No one wants to drive their nearly stock daily 300k to get their butt kicked by a trailered car on race tires

Okay we're aiming at this, Mod and Super mod. Could add Unlimited for FI and swap if they're a some interest.

What they will share :

5 speed
Any suspension mod
Any OEM diff
Any OEM ring and pinion
100 TW of your choice
EP air dam and splitter
Any wing
Any wheel
Any brake and ducts
Need a windshield and roll bar or cage

Mod
112 WHP (mustang) or 135 crank
2300 lbs car

Super Mod
142 WHP (mustang) or 171 crank
2100 lbs car

We're speaking with some people to see if USA tracks (Thompson, NHMS, Pocono and Watkins glen to name some) can accept our formula or if we can buy some grids...

Will have a preliminary calender for canadian track maybe in November so stay tuned...

I'm staying tuned!

I actively plan to do the Track&Time championship next year. Will those events overlap or there will be different track days?
