I thought the main reason for 11.75 was availability and cheapness. The basic willwood rings are like $32 each and everywhere.

What's the difference between the STR42 and the ST42?

jpreston 08-04-2017 09:51 AM

From an email with Stoptech:

"The ST42 caliper half forgings are the basis for the ST42 and STR42. They are both made from the same forging. The ST42 machines off some of the forged surfaces to achieve the finished caliper profile. The STR42 machines ALL surfaces and optimizes cuts to reduce weight on a 38/38 piston caliper. It’s about a half pound lighter than the ST42 and it is offered ONLY in an anodized finish (no caliper colors)."

PFC pads are now in stock here for the Stoptech calipers:

PFC 11 for Stoptech ST42 / STR42
PFC 11 for Stoptech ST21 / STR21

Ryan,

Any long term feedback for these brakes? Thanks. Eyeballing the rear kit for the Exocet.

Not to necrobump a necrobump, but before I kill a bunch of trees and order a shmorgishborg of spacers off amazon, does anyone know how much "offset correction" I'll need to fit these under 15x8 6uls (gen 2/3). Will the 5 mm for the 15x9s do or is 8 or 10 mm required? Thanks in advanced.

ericsbestshot 02-26-2020 10:42 PM

I just installed this kit and have 15x9 6uls. It required 10mm to fit correctly.

Just did the same. My 10" Dekagram fit with plenty of room. Tried my 9" 6ULs and not even close to fitting, 10mm spacers on order.
My 3" Singular brake ducts are another thing. Necessitated swapping the ABS sensors and retainers left to right. Also trimming as duct shield and rotor take up same space. PF11 pads took quite a bit of messaging flash off edge of backing plate to fit.
Bit of brake porn. STR w SS piston nose and Performance Friction 11 pads and rings.

Not sure if you saw the thread in the aero subforum, but folks have been blocking off about half the outlet of the brake ducts to ensure air is only being delivered to the central rotor vents near the hat and not to the inner face of the rotor. Theywere having cracking issues because of the temp delta when the inner face was being blasted with cold air vs being cooled from air passing through the central vents.

Bit of an apples to oranges comparison when you look at these PFC rings compared to stock, Willwood or StopTech.

V8R STR43 in Teamdynamics 15x8 Et30.

Just needed a small grind on the big bolts of the caliper nothing major.

Looking for some advice from those of you that have experience with brake kits. I race an f production miata in the scca, they are in the process of approving alternate brakes for the class. We are limited to 15x7 wheels, I run enkei rpf1 wheels. 35 off set and spacers. Has anyone had anyone experience with fitting any of the big brake kits under these wheels? Any advice or experience is appreciated.

I have a set of them and the caliper clearance is great, so much more clearance than my 15x9 Gen 4 6ULs. Wish they did a 15x9 TD 1.2.

So I should have no issues with the 15x7 et 35 enkei rpf1?

I forgot to mention that I use 3/4 inch spacers to get the track out to legal limit per the rules, wondering if this will make a difference?
Thank you for the info on the template

In case somebody stumbles upon this thread and wants to know before purchasing. I test fit two different wheels, though they're already known to fit 11.75"

Konig Freeform 15x9.5 +29. The spokes have tons of clearance. Barrell to caliper clearance pictured the best I could.
