Nice. How do they ride on the highway, are they noisy? I need some new tires for my truck in the near future. I also tow a horse trailer up and down a dirt/gravel driveway that's tough to navigate without all-terrain tires, so I'm thinking through my options. The KO2's are probably at the top of my list right now.

I had the KO2 before this in a 35 12.5r20 and these are 37s on 17s. Noise is about the same but the ride is way smoother. But my sidewall is way bigger now too so I'm sure that's part of it.

The KO2 is a great tire and a solid do everything tire. Between various vehicles i have probably 100k miles drive time on the KO2 and they have never let me down.

XL Load Range or higher?
 

I'm also looking for new tires. It's also time for me to actually buy a trailer. I have been tracking my Miata since 2011, and I still drive it to (and usually from) events. I'm too old to be stuck on I-95 in July without a/c.

We have a 2004 Tundra 2WD access cab with the 4.7 V8 and tow package. It's all stock. Tires are Ohtsu Standard Load range highway tires that were on the truck when we purchased it a few years ago. I've towed the Miata with it before on a gynormous U-Haul trailer without issue. I want to move up from the SL tires to at least an XL. I'm looking at the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. It's a 111T XL all-terrain tire.. I'm also looking at the BFG KO2 which is load range D1. My son takes his motocross bike on the Tundra to various spots, so there is some dirt/gravel road driving but nothing that the Ohtsu haven't been able to handle. If I get a trailer, all my driving will be on road, so I'm leaning towards the XL for a softer ride.

Any words of wit would be greatly appreciated.

I ended up getting continental terrain contact a/t for this reason, they also make a H/T "highway" terrain tire.

i have them on my Tahoe and they have handled all the snow in NYS really well and are nice for DD, I assume they'll be much better than the OEM Bridgestones it came on.

Anyone towing a Miata race car in an 8.5x16ft v-nose enclosed trailer, or have any feedback on whether it's an OK idea? There's one for sale locally that seems to have been well maintained and is asking a fair price. I know more space is better, but I store my trailer behind my work and overall length is a challenge. Last track day I met a guy who was using this size for a Lotus Elise race car, and I was pretty impressed with how well everything fit. Elise looks to be similar in size, about 2 inches wider and 7 inches shorter. I've been using a 8x16 open trailer, it would be really nice to leave wheels and tools in the trailer instead of loading/unloading each weekend. Also would be nice to have a place to sleep in the paddock.

I think with a 16' trailer you're going to be hurting for space store wheels and tools. Pretty much your only options are going to be along the sides, above the car. You're also not going to have much room to tune the tongue weight by moving the car forward/back. This is assuming the 16' doesn't include the V nose. If it's 16 measured to the nose, you're going to be really tight.

Draw out a 16x8.5 square on your garage floor using some tape or chalk to get an idea for how tight it will be and don't forget the intrusion of the trailer wheel wells.

The other challenge with a 16' trailer is going to be the tie downs, the Miata isn't high enough to have the ratchets on the straps underneath the car so there needs to be enough space in front of/behind the car for that strap and the ratchet mechanism. Maybe it would work with e-track on the floor and tie downs that go over the tires.

Thanks guys. The trailer is 16' plus the v nose, which adds another foot or two in the front. Still not a lot of room for stuff though. I hadn't thought about the tie-downs, I have that issue currently with my 16' open and had to put tie-down points all the way up on the trailer tongue. The same guy is also selling a 8.5x20 for a little more, and it comes with 5200 pound six lug axles. If the 20' will fit my storage space it will probably be better to go that route.

A 20' is a MUCH better choice if you want to put anything at all in the trailer other than the car. 24' is even better, that will let you camp in the trailer without taking the car out.

It's for sale. Unsurprisingly the trade-in offer from the Ford dealer was not competitive.

I believe the 24' to be the ideal size trailer. While a bit more than you need for a Miata it does have the best resale value due to its popularity. I had a really nice ATC 28' enclosed trailer that was too big IMHO. Sold it to TC Design for cheap. Think he still has it.

I know that there have been brief discussions of Sensor On Valve TPMS here. I picked up a basic TyMate package but have yet to use it. What have those of you who have a TPMS used for Max and Min Pressure and Temp warnings? The placard on my trailer recommends 60 psi for a full load. The tire itself is rated for 65 psi max. My system can indicate pressure from 0 to 87 psi. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
