what oil pressure do you see?

something is wrong with my oil pressure sender/gauge. in my last car the pressure would rise with increased rpm. this gauge just sits at about 50psi regardless of heat or rpm. i'm guessing i have a bad sender. the sender is installed on the sandwich adapter.

Are you using your stock NB sender? If so then it is not a true sender and just reads if you have pressure or not.

no, this is a aftermarket vdo sender and gauge. should have been more clear.

does no one use a aftermarket oil pressure gauge? I just wanted to get an idea of what pressure I should see at low rpm vs high rpm

My oil pressure varies with RPM. My sender is attached to a sandwich plate. With 0w30 at idle I see anywhere from 12-18psi depending on how warm the engine is. At WOT it's 70-80psi, I think, don't watch it much then. Cruising on the freeway I believe I'm at 45-55psi.

I think your sender is borked.

General (very general) rule of thumb: 10 psi for every 1,000rpm

Obviously every engine is different depending on design, but this will get you a baseline.

w/ Rotella T6 I'm around 15psi hot @ idle and it shoots up to at least 60 or so when revved up.

I have a stock "real" gauge with the sender in the factory location, and an Autometer with the sender in a sandwich plate. They both read aprox 20psi at idle warmed up and 50ish highway cruising. Rotella T 15/40
