Where is the best intake location?
 

I currently take air in from the parking light opening. I believe this is a low pressure zone so it may not be the best location. I am looking to change the intake location to the radiator opening to take advantage of the high pressure air. The only potential downside is the air will be hotter. Am I over thinking this or is the change worthwhile?

Do you mean that the intake and or filter will be in front of the radiator or behind it?

I should have taken pics to help understand what I want to do. I want to funnel air into my air filter from the radiator bumper opening. Mine is well sealed from the radiator to the front of the car. The intake would be in front of the radiator not behind it.

Sounds like that would be an ideal solution. Shouldn't be hot air if you're pulling in front of the radiator, and it is in one of the highest pressure locations on the car.

Agree with the above. Filter in front of radiator (or duct in front of radiator that supplies air to closed-off section where filter is) will get nice and cool air.

I think there are definite benefits to this in terms of aero - I don't mean for the intake, but for the overall aero of the car. Having the parking light hole open with a filter behind it means you're introducing a bunch of turbulence into the engine bay - you're not sucking allll of that air into the intake under WOT and when you're off-throttle, it's even worse. For that, you would really want to duct from the parking light hole to a box that has the air filter and then also duct an air vent to evacuate the un-inhaled air out of the box into a low pressure zone on the outside of the car.

By placing the air filter in front of the radiator, you're getting the cool air you want and all the air you don't suck in already has a use that was happening anyways - it gets used by the radiator. So you can cover the parking light hole and reduce drag.
