Where to dispose of stock parts when gutting for race prep
Hey everyone, I am back in the Miata world after a several years. I’m finally settled in one location (DFW) and career is in a good place to return to the scene. In the past I had a stripped out track car and during that time I had more space/time to sell things to move them out, now is not the case. Ideally what id like to do is just unload everything at a pick and pull - not looking to make money, just free up some space to keep the workspace comfortable. Curious what others are doing to dispose of parts properly (dash, doorcards, seats, soft top, and all the other parts that get removed while building a racecar). I have access to a dumpster but am looking for other suggestions/options that may be a little better. Thanks! Ryan |
Put the parts up on craigslist for free. It'll be gone in days and they'll even come to your house to pick it up!

If you're coming to the DFW area join Metroplex Miata Enthusiasts on Facebook. If you post up the parts there someone will usually take them.

Happen to have nice NB1 black door cards? |

Sigh. That's what i threw out, to put a black interior in.

I try to give that stuff away to locals.
I'll typically throw stuff in the trash before dealing with Craigslist. |

I need the rubber radiator mounts, in the case you are not needing them. Easy ship in a USPS small, Flat Rate box and I send you $$$.

Unfortunately most pick and pull places wont take random parts from what I've seen. Best bet is to just toss everything in the dumpster unfortunately. If you hold onto all the stuff trying to sell it or even give it away for free I anticipate it all hitting the dumpster anyway when you get tired of it sitting around and cluttering your work space. When I stripped my car I thought I was being smart by holding onto everything "just in case" someone needed/wanted it. It ended with me just getting frustrated that it was all taking up valuable storage space and hit the dump shortly thereafter.

Inevitably immediately after dumping it, someone will post a WTB for those parts. |
Welp, I sorted metals, electronics, garbage and got rid of it at the appropriate venues luckily I have that stuff available. Garage is spacious again, ahhhhhhhbb good feeling |
I might need some cheap stock NB seats in IL. |
