Window fog
How do you guys that have stripped cars, no hvac systems keep your windows from fogging? I want to keep my car as light as posible but still be able to see when i have to drive the car in the rain or when it gets a little colder.

Rain-X or drive faster.

Scotts no fog cloth, it's the only thing i ever found that really worked for preventing fogging inside motorcycle goggles.

I have been using a Rain-X like product, on both sides of the windshield, and that does the trick. Granted this is in South Texas and not San Francisco but it works. |
Rain-X no fog stuff. I've been using it for a couple years and it lasts about 4-5 months at a time, provided you don't clean the inside of the window for that long.
On a related note, how much can that plastic possibly weigh? The PO of my car stripped the hvac tubing out of my car, presumably for weight savings, but I figure it can't amount to more than 6-8lbs. Frankly I wish I had the ducting back in there. |
Well this is within the context of a stripped down track car, that is nothing stays unless it is absolutely essential. Removing all of the HVAC items is a lot of weight reduction. I removed it from my current track car, and will be removing it from the next one, along with the entire dash.
|
Timely subject...I am debating this as well. To me it's just ugly when the dash is no longer there...all that nasty hvac crap! Having said that, I may still leave it...

Stuff that is not in there will not break :) Personally, I'm too fond of a heated windscreen to be able to see better in the rain races. For some reason open top racing makes the inside see some spray too... (and it's not me, I have the visor down :) ) |

The solution is to simply never drive slowly. Serious answer: Rain-X, or leave the HVAC in for the defroster. |
That hvac tubing weights nothing. its paper thin abs. I just had a 90 dash apart to clean all the junk yard dirt out of it, then refoam and space tape everything to seal better and rattle less. I think emillio has the real anti-fog/frost solution with the defroster of doom.

Wipey stick.

Maybe just leave some of the tubing, and put a fan with a on and off switch? Hmmm dam you chicago weather.
|
run a hose from any high pressure area to inside windscreen.
all you need is air blowing across the inside of windshield. do not need to be hot air |
I know some racers who use dawn dish soap on the inside of the windshield wipe it on, and wipe off all you can with a clean rag.
|
A naca duct in a corner window and some tube would work good I would think.
Or rainx anti fog. |
Crack a window and quit yer bitchin. Lol. I like the corner window idea but for now I use rain x. Saved me in my younger days via
paintball masks and saves me now in my miata. |
