windshield wipers stop after 100mph
Rain racing is great here in Oregon. It's a real equalizer... you can finally match laps and even run up on the fast cars. That was the case this weekend. We had a good turn out of experienced drivers, even a retired Indy driver... a wonderful way to learn from their lines.
Except for the fact that from 100 to 125 my wipers stalled and I couldn't see a thing! The GT cars with aero really were throwing up rooster tails and it was hard to see when close in the braking zone and while rolling past lapped traffic. Is this what to expect for a 2004 miata? Or, do I have a problem that I can fix? |

I don't know about the wipers themselves, but rain-x when applied correctly can just about work miracles.

-Ryan I just want to know if an NB miata wiper motor will normally stall at high speed, or if I might need a new wiper motor? https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1427226558 |
Mine slow down noticeably over 100, but they still eventually make it.

I wonder if I replaced with a stubby wiper blade, or deleted the passenger blade?

PIR? Pretty good times, SM was only running a second or so faster in the same rain.
It should slow down with aero drag, and although I don't think I've gone 125 in rain yet, mines NEVER stopped. Just slows. |
+1 for Rain X
Must be applied correctly |
I don't run wipers on my street car. The trick is proper rain x and super clean windshield. It has never let me down in the hardest of downpours, but a passenger side wiper delete would do it

This is what Rain-x should look like when properly applied:

Your wiper motor might be weak. With good RainX, at 80 mph the drops should still be departing the windscreen at 30-40mph. Should be perfectly clear vision.
