Why would you skip the drilling?

I would drill out the ends, grind out some of the crack, and add a gusset. If it is stainless of course you should back purge when welding.

All of my flanges I used and sold were 304 stainless 1/2 inch thick, and I used tight holes that look similar in size to yours. They worked great as you have said. No issues from me or anyone else...

As far as turbo goes, nice to see the alternator on the cold side. Opens up some room for the manifold. Alternator placement on the NC is making manifold design pesky.
