Many members of the community are installing the hood louvers and enjoying them now!

I'm going to keep updating this thread with customer-submitted photos so they are all in one place and you don't have to dig through multiple threads to find them :D

I finally installed the two side louvers on my MSM today. The job wasn't too, hard, just need to go slow! Took me about 5 hours by myself, and it was my first time using an angle grinder.

Looks great! Nice job on the install.

So far, I love my louvers, Ryan.

I have experienced one problem, but it's probably isolated to just me because I haven't heard about this from anyone else. Since the install, if I drive the car in hard rain, when I check my PS fluid, it's milky. It seems the louvers let some rain into the PS reservoir, probably when the car is stopped :dunno:

I replaced the O-ring, but that didn't help. For some background, I have checked all fluids in the engine bay monthly for over 2 years, and this never happened before.

To be fair, this spring was really bad, we got half the annual rainfall of Seattle in 3 weeks, and at one point, the Blanco river rose over 20 feet in 2 hours. Also, I don't want PS long term, I'm just waiting to find an AC/no PS tensioner setup for an NB, so this isn't a big deal for me.

Just thought I would let you guys know.

Quite a few Singular Motorsports hood vents out at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway this past weekend:

http://www.mazdatalkforum.com/downlo...3026&mode=view

We are now in to Version 2 of the hood louvers. Version 2 omits the original separate gurney flaps and instead integrates the gurney flap into the main louver piece; you bend the forward flap to vertical. All V2s come anodized black - so for 95% of customers you no longer have to worry about finishing them. For those who want to paint them another color, you can paint right over the anodize just like normal.

V2s are now in stock at 949Racing [NA, NB] and Goodwin Racing (NA, NB, NC)

Quick question:

In this thread, he top-mounted the vents. I like how it looks. any reason this is a bad idea?

They lowered my coolant temps somewhere between 7 and 28°F depending on the situation.

The function is going to be largely the same. For the louvers to drop in from the top, the sides of the cut need to be enlarged compared to the template. Keep in mind all louvers shipping now are V2, so the forward louver becomes the gurney flap and for it to look right you'd need to take care to not change the cut on the top or bottom.

Ah good point. OK cool, thank you sir.

Love hearing this stuff.

We were out at Streets of Willow last weekend in the heat. Sean ran his 240whp Rotrex car all day for two days in the heat and never saw temps above 195° F.

Jager Racing was out there with their lap record-setting STI which we developed louvers for, data from them shows max water temp of 197° F with that 500-700 whp beast.

Is there any contact adhesive recommended to reglue any of the supports that have popped off from the underside of the skin? I think mine where already like this, but it's exacerbated the hood floppiness especially at speed.

ThePass 06-02-2016 04:40 PM

Haven't tried any myself, but if I were doing that I'd probably grab an epoxy.

psyber_0ptix 06-02-2016 04:47 PM

Ok, just hoping it'll hold to temp. The rib is right above the turbo. I can see the hood bow at velocity and was going to try hood pins first to see if it'll help
