A recent thread has gotten me to wondering about that lovely piece of rubber hose that comes with all our kits, and whether anybody here has actually used it to connect their turbo oil drain over to the Hidden Fitting on the intake side.

I'm using the stock rubber for now, going to tap the pan later. At least I have a slight oil cooling effect

I have the rubber hose. It gets hard and brittle by the turbo, so I put a fitting on the hose so I can periodically replace a section between the turbo and the fitting.

The hose isn't perfectly downhill anymore (it was originally but there are things in the way now), but I don't have any noticeable oil consumption or smoke. Stick always shows full, and ~4 qts always come out.

Maan. I cant get that dam rubber cap off after about two hours, So to answer your question, Im going to be doing the original return hose : /

Rubber hose here also, but I clocked the turbo so the oil outlet it pointing more straight down for better flow. No problems thus far.

Currently using the rubber hose because the P.O. installed the turbo and that's the way he did it. Drill & tap the pan is on the projects list somewhere behind: New top, intercooler, rear end w/torsen, big brakes, Bipes, bigger injectors and exaust. I have all the parts for the above projects, except the exaust, just not the time to do them.

Am using the supplied rubber hose but routed it to the oil pan. It developed a nasty kink in it soon after installing so I put a brass ell where the kink was to facilitate draining and to help replacing the hose when it gets brittle by the turbo.

It's been that way for about three years and 20,000 miles now with no leakage or cracking occurring yet.

for those of you with cracking issues with the drain hose being close to the turbo, I just put some hose shielding on mine, bought 3' of it for $18 including shipping, and it fits on the drain hose and 2 heater core coolant lines. provides a real clean and cheap method of protecting those things from the heat.

Oh, and since we are talking about the rubber hose, for the future if you guys know anyone or if anyone asks or says that their having trouble taking the rubber cap off, After struggling a lot, if you take off the passenger wheel and do it from there, it was SUPER easier and after I did that took about fifteen minutes of prying with the pliers
