Default Forged 1.6l with Fluidamper Balancer

Ok so here's the rub, I am currently building a 1.6l fully forged and I'm running into an issue. I have and installed pretty much all upgraded 1.6 parts and when I went to get my harmonic balancer I could only find ones that were a complete bolt on for the 1.8. After some research and asking around i found out that i could use the 1.8l damper on my engine but I would have to change the water pump pulley and the alternator pulley. While test fitting all the parts on my mostly completed engine I can not get the pulleys to line up properly to get a belt on there. So the question i have after that long winded explanation is this, Is the 1.8l alternator shorter in size horizontally then the 1.6 and that's why it sticks out. Should I just buy a 1.8l alternator and it will fit?

Also I know before its said i should have just upgraded to the 1.8l engine and done the same job for cheaper and faster or what ever. I like the 1.6 and have already spent 95% of the required money to get this girl running. so no i will not just swap the dang engine.

Thanks for any help you lovely people can give.

Do you have a short nose crank? The 1.8L balancers only work with the 1.6L long nose crank.
