Default 00' NB Rebuild

Hey guys, due to recent events I am wanting to rebuild the motor with forged internals but am not familiar with the inline platform seeing that I came from flat 4's. It is pushing 13 psi at around 245-250hp I want to increase those numbers by the end of the build and my budget is 6500 do you guys think its possible to rebuild the motor with that budget in mind? Lastly, do you think its smarter to rebuild it myself or have it taken into a shop? Thank you for your time!

now I see why all the OG's are so harsh on the new guys

if you're asking these questions, maybe just take the car to a shop.

Have a shop that's familiar with BP's (your engine) do the build.
Add forged rods
Shim oil pump to increase pressure 5-10psi
Heavier valve springs. Boost blows the valves open with ancient stock valves springs
Do not reduce valve seat area or try to get fancy with multi angle cuts

Break in the motor on no boost for a few hours on conventional oil.
Then run 10W40 synthetic. 20w50 in you only drive in warm weather. Cheap synthetics are fine.
Oil cooler for bonus points.
