Default Converting From D514A to D585 (LS Ignition Coils) : Dwell Settings Change?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently running a Haltech Elite 1500 on my 1996 Mazda Miata that’s got a built and turbocharged factory motor putting down 376 whp. I’m swapping over from my current ignition set up consisting of D514A ignition coils for D585 ignition coils (both are LS ignition coils because I’m altering the mounting bracket and it only supports D585’s). With this change in ignition coils (still using the same wiring - sequential, spark plug leads, and plugs) will I have to change any of my dwell settings on the Haltech?

Thanks!

You need to post your current dwell settings for any advice as we don't know your starting point?

I had a quick look on Flowforce site. Their older setup has the dwell settings of 4ms at 500rpm running down to 3ms at 8000rpm. All on: https://goflowforce.com/ls-coil-instructions

There new kit has a picture of their dwell test on a scope: https://goflowforce.com/products/ls-coil-kit-ktwrx

The newer style coils also look to be 4ms dwell maximum. So if you have their old LS style dwell table settings, I suspect it will be fine with the new coils with no change. Depends on what you actually have.

Flowforce are also super helpful: if you tell them what your ECU axis are for the dwell table: They will help you with the settings, just email. They have helped me with injector timings previously.
