Default Fender Cutting

There is plenty of info online about how to do this. Here I'm documenting an NB2 I'm building. It's running 15" 295 A7s. I bought some 11.5" wide bogart wheels off someone who ran them on an ND1.

Obviously tape off the area and cover anything you don't want sparks to hit. Have a plan for fire. I have a bucket of water and wet rags, water sprayer, and fire extinguisher.

The outside panel is glued to the inside panel. And remember... but you can't put it back.

There is a support in there which somewhat limits how much you can do.

View from the top of the wheel well.

The inside panel gets bent up to meet the outside.

I ended up cutting 2.5" up from the center of the original fender lip. I had to put a 12mm spacer behind the wheel. The stock upper a-arm contact the shock tower just before the tire touches the fender. So that should be enough for any situation. My car is setup at 4" ride height to the jack stand points. This gives about 1.5" bump travel to the suspension. It's an autocross car so it's enough. hopefully

Used my gasless welder with .030 wire on lowest settings.

I'm not going to fully weld this.

Permatex liquid metal to seal things up.

Hit it with some primer.

Started on the other side and found a lot of body filler.

Those are Austin's old wheels I take it?

What are you planning to do for flares? Generic, or something more spicy?

Yes
I have some cheap ebay fenders that I'm pretty meh about. I'm leaning carbon miata short fender flares. I would pull the trigger but I'm not sure 100% they will clear the wheel and tire. I see they can clear 275s from pictures.
